Mid-range PCA driver chooses poorly at Cooranbong

A man has been charged with drink driving after allegedly tail-gating the wrong driver on the M1 at Cooranbong yesterday.

A 43-year-old man was driving north about 2.50pm (Friday 2 September 2016), when he was stopped by Northern Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner Jeff Loy.

It will be alleged it was raining heavily when the man tail-gated the Assistant Commissioner before passing him at speed.

The Commander stopped the driver near Marshall Street with a subsequent roadside breath test returning a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Morisset Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.110.

The man was charged with mid-range PCA and was conditionally bailed to Toronto Local Court on Tuesday 27 September 2016.

His licence has been suspended.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command is conducting a high-visibility compliance operation across parts of Northern Region this weekend.

Operation Mega Drive Three is targeting potential road trauma incidents throughout the Hunter Valley.

Forty-eight police in 30 vehicles are involved in the saturation-style operation which started Friday morning (2 September 2016) and continues until Monday morning (5 September 2016).
