Police have charged a man and a woman following an investigation into an alleged break and enter near Newcastle earlier this year.

Between 22 July 2016 and 24 July 2016, a home on Seacourt Avenue, Dudley, was broken into and items of property were stolen.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Target Action Group commenced an investigation.

Inquiries led police to stop a vehicle, reported as stolen, on Speers Road, Speers Point, about 9.30am today (Wednesday 31 August 2016).

Police spoke to the driver, an 18-year-old woman, before searching her and the car.

During the search, police allegedly located and seized stolen property.

She was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station where she was charged with good suspected stolen given to other not entitled (x3), furnish false information/statement to Licensee (x3), and dishonestly obtain property by deception (x3).

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Belmont Local Court on 28 September 2016.

A short time later, police attended a home at Speers Point and arrested a 28-year-old man.

During a search of the home, police allegedly located stolen property as well as methylamphetamine and cannabis.

He was arrested and taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with goods in custody (x2), goods suspected stolen given to other not entitled (x3), furnish false information/statement to Licensee (x3), dishonestly obtain property by deception (x3), possess prohibited drug (x2), and larceny.

The man was bail refused to appear at Toronto Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 1 September 2016).

Investigations are ongoing.
