Woman charged following alleged armed robbery near Newcastle

A woman has been charged following an alleged armed robbery at a service station near Newcastle today.

Between 11.30am and 12pm (Saturday 2 April 2016), a woman entered a service station on the corner of York Street and Anzac Parade, Teralba, armed with a knife and demanded money.

The 55-year-old male employee complied and handed over a sum of cash.

The woman fled the scene.

Officers from Lake Macquarie were notified and attended the location.

A short time later, a 42-year-old woman was arrested at a unit on Anzac Parade, Teralba.

Police executed a search warrant at the unit and seized a number of items.

The 42-year-old woman was taken to Belmont Police Station where she was charged with robbery whilst armed with an offence weapon.

She was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 3 April 2016).
