Police have charged a man with several firearms offences and released two women after a vehicle stop near Albury today.

About 11am today (Wednesday 30 September 2015), a silver Daewoo Lanos was spotted by officers attached to Albury Traffic & Highway Patrol as it travelled south on the Olympic Highway at Table Top.

One of the vehicle’s occupants was linked to a recent shooting in Wagga Wagga.

Additional vehicles were deployed to the area and a dangerous vehicle stop was performed before the Daewoo was able to enter the south bound lanes of the Hume Highway.

The vehicle was stopped at a road block and two 19-year-old women were removed from the front seats while a 30-year-old man was removed from the back seat of the car.

During a search of the vehicle police will allege that they located a .22 target pistol, a Beretta semi-automatic pistol and empty ten round magazine and ammunition.

All three were arrested and taken to Albury Police Station while the vehicle was towed and further examined.

The 30-year-old man was later charged with possessing a loaded firearm, possessing an unauthorised pistol x 2, possessing an unregistered pistol and breach of parole.

One woman was found to be in possession of two tablets while the second had an ‘ICE’ pipe. Both were released pending further inquiries into the items.

The man was refused bail to appear at Albury Local Court on Thursday 1 October 2015.
