Police investigate man’s death following DEFQON festival

Police from Penrith Local Area Command have an investigation now underway into the death of a man, who was found unconscious at a music festival at Penrith overnight.

Shortly after 11pm, emergency personnel were told that a man had been found unconscious in a tent.

The man’s friends rendered first aid until NSW Ambulance Paramedics arrived and he was taken to Nepean Hospital, where he later died. Police have identified the man as being aged 26 and from Albury.

During the festival, police arrested 60 people; 46 arrests were for drug offences, four of which for drug supply, with two people allegedly caught with 46 pills, believed to be MDMA.

Others arrested were charged with public order and trespass offences.

Nine people were taken to Nepean Hospital by NSW Ambulance Paramedics.
