About 2.15pm (Thursday 27 August 2015), Southern Region Traffic & Highway Patrol Command officers were travelling south near Goulburn, when they stopped a white Mitsubishi Magna.

Officers spoke with the male driver who allegedly produced a NSW driver’s licence. Inquiries were made with the RMS (Roads and Maritime Services) which established that the licence number and identity were fraudulent.

Further inquiries were then made with officers from Macquarie Fields Traffic & Highway Patrol Command, who also stopped the same vehicle in early July. An alleged fraudulent driver’s licence was also produced to officers during that traffic stop.

A search of the driver located another three allegedly fraudulent NSW driver’s licences and a fraudulent Medicare card.

The man was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where his identity was established as being a 28-year-old man from Braddon in the ACT.

Records show the man is currently disqualified from driving until July 2018 from offences allegedly committed in the ACT.

Traffic & Highway Patrol Command officers charged the man with 12 offences allegedly committed during the two traffic stops; exceed speed over 20km/h, use false document to influence exercise of public duty (x5), unlawfully possess thing that resembles Australian driver licence (x4), and drive while disqualified (x2).

The man was refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court today (Friday 28 August 2015).
