Man charged with setting home alight – Cessnock

A man will face court today after being charged with domestic violence offences, including allegedly setting a home on fire earlier this week.

It’s alleged about 11.20am on Tuesday (18 August 2015), a 30-year-old man set alight a home on Millfield Road, Paxton, before running from the scene.

The occupants, who were known to the man, were not home at the time and the fire was extinguished by Fire & Rescue NSW.

Following investigations by officers from Central Hunter Local Area Command, officers arrested a 30-year-old man at Cessnock yesterday (Thursday 20 August 2015).

He was taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with malicious damage by fire (DV). Two warrants were also executed for other domestic violence offences.

The man was refused bail, to appear in Cessnock Local Court today (Friday 21 August 2015).
