Teen charged following armed robbery of taxi driver – Albury

Police have charged a teenage boy after a taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint at Albury yesterday and continue with their investigation to locate two other males believed to have been involved.

Just before 2am on Wednesday 10 June 2015, a 47-year-old female taxi driver was called to Baratta Street, North Albury.

On arrival, the driver got out of her taxi and three males approached her. One of the males pulled out a knife and threatened the driver.

A short scuffle took place and the woman got back into her taxi and attempted to close the window.

The male with the knife reached in and grabbed the ignition key, breaking it in the process.

Once the window was closed, the male hit the window several times with the knife and ran away.

The three males were last seen running south along Wantigong Street. The woman received a minor laceration to her right hand in the scuffle.

Police from Albury Local Area Command today (Thursday 11 June 2015) attended a home at North Albury and arrested a 14-year-old boy.

He was taken to Albury Police Station and later charged with robbery in company.

He was refused bail and attended a Children’s Court today where he was also refused bail.

Detectives are investigating the incident, and are attempting to locate two further males who it is believed could assist with inquiries into the incident.
