Two charged over malicious damage at railway station – Police Transport Command

Two men have been charged over alleged malicious damage at a railway station in the state’s Lake Macquarie region last month.

Just before 3.30am on Saturday 2 May 2015, a ticket vending machine was damaged at Dora Creek Railway Station.

It’s alleged two men had damaged the machine and attempted to steal money from it.

Police were alerted and officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command attended and spoke with three men at the scene.

After obtaining their details, the trio was allowed to leave.

Following further inquiries by officers from the Police Transport Command, two men were arrested at a Cooronbong home just after 8.30am yesterday (Tuesday 9 June 2015).

The men, aged 45 and 19, were taken to Toronto Police Station where they were charged with armed with intent to commit indictable offence, malicious damage and attempted stealing.

Both men were given conditional bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on 8 July 2015.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing.
