Speeding Near Holbrook

About 12:50am today (Saturday), officers attached Highway Patrol officers allegedly observed an on-coming vehicle travelling at high speed in a 110km/h zone on the Hume Highway at Woomargama, south of Holbrook.

Police followed the vehicle, which was displaying red P1 P-plates, and allegedly detected the car on radar travelling at 146km/h.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver provided police with a current P1 driver’s licence, which is restricted to 90km/h.

The driver was booked for exceed speed over 45km/h and his licence immediately suspended for six months.

The number plates were not confiscated because the vehicle wasn’t owned by the driver, police say.

Motorists are reminded that double demerit penalties for speeding, seatbelt and motorcycle helmet offences will continue until 11:59pm on Monday.
