Learner motorcyclist charged after caught riding at 200km/h – Gunning

A Victorian learner motorcyclist will appear in court today following a pursuit in Gunning yesterday, where the rider allegedly reached speeds of up to 200km/h.

About 4.10pm (Sunday 7 June 2015), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command attempted to stop a motorcyclist travelling north along the Hume Highway.

The motorcyclist allegedly failed to stop and a pursuit ensued, where the rider reached speeds of up to 200km/h.

A short time later, the motorcyclist was stopped and searched by police, who allegedly located a knife on the rider.

The 19-year-old Victorian man was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station, where he was charged with police pursuit – driving dangerously, exceed speed more than 45km/h and custody of a knife in a public place.

He was refused bail, to appear at Goulburn Local Court today (Monday 8 June 2015).
