Man charged with high range PCA near Albury

A man has been charged after returning an alleged alcohol reading of over four times the legal limit near Albury this morning.

About 9.50am (Sunday 7 June 2015), officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped a Mitsubishi Magna station wagon travelling north along the Olympic Highway, Culcairn, about 50km north of Albury.

Police spoke to the male driver before submitting him to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

The 41-year-old Victorian man was taken to Culcairn Police Station, where he underwent a breath test analysis, allegedly returning a reading of 0.204.

He has been issued a Court Attendance Notice for high range PCA, to appear at Albury Local Court on Tuesday 23 June 2015.

Operation Stay Alert, the NSW Police Force’s traffic operation for the Queen’s Birthday long weekend, began at 12.01am on Friday (5 June 2015) and runs until 11.59pm tomorrow (Monday 8 June 2015).

Motorists are reminded that double demerit penalties remain in place for speeding, seatbelt and helmet offences.
