A man found slumped over the steering wheel of a vehicle in a Speers Point car park overnight, has now been charged with drug offences.

Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were called to Speers Point Park about 10.15pm yesterday (Thursday 4 June 2015), after concerns for the welfare of the man.

When police spoke with the man, they allege an ‘Ice’ pipe was seen on the passenger’s seat. This was seized along with pills and a bag police will allege contained methamphetamine (Ice) as well as cannabis.

The 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with two counts of supply a prohibited drug, and three counts of possess a prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and will appear in Newcastle Local Court today (Friday 5 June 2015).
