Police target shoplifters during Operation Cut-Price – Wagga Wagga LAC

Police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command are issuing a warning to those who intend to shoplift, following ongoing operations in the area.

Over the last two days (Wednesday 8 April – Thursday 9 April 2015), Wagga Wagga Police conducted Operation Cut-Price, targeting shoplifters in a joint operation with retail loss prevention officers.

The operation is the one of a series of operations Wagga Wagga Police are conducting as part of ongoing investigations into retail theft.

A number of suspected shoplifters were targeted during the operation and a strong police presence was focused on locations identified as retail theft hot spots.

During the operation a total of 23 people were caught for shoplifting and other offences.

The officer in charge of Operation ‘Cut-Price’, Leading Senior Constable Simon Carberry is issuing a warning to people in the area that intend to shoplift.

“Shoplifting is a serious crime that has a major impact on local businesses and the community as a whole.

“Wagga Wagga Police will continue to crack down on people who shoplift, with further operations already planned.

“If you shoplift, you will be caught and charged,” said Leading Senior Constable Carberry.

Police would like to thank the community members that assisted in providing information and supporting the operation.
