Man charged with six offences following car theft and crash – Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged with six offences following an alleged car theft and crash in Wagga Wagga earlier this year.

About 11pm (Friday 30 January 2015), a blue Holden Commodore station wagon vehicle was allegedly stolen from Wodonga, Victoria, and later reported seen in Ashmont, Wagga Wagga.

Police were notified, and, following inquiries and calls from witnesses, they located the vehicle in front of a home on Adams Street, Ashmont, where it had hit a tree.

Two women, aged 18 and 27, were found injured nearby. They were treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics and taken to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital with minor injuries.

Two men, aged 16 and 23, were also taken to hospital suffering minor injuries. They have since been discharged.

All four are believed to have been passengers in the vehicle.

Officers attached to Wagga Wagga Local Area Command attended and commenced investigating the incident.

Following inquiries, today (Tuesday 31 March 2015), a 23-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station, where he was issued a court attendance notice for:

– drive conveyance taken without consent of owner,

– drive recklessly/furiously or in a dangerous manner,

– negligent driving,

– drive vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol,

– not give particulars to police, and,

– drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

The man will appear at Albury Local Court on Wednesday 27 May 2015.
