Seventh person arrested after brawl in Cronulla

A seventh person has been arrested following a brawl in Cronulla last Wednesday night.

Continuing investigations led to the arrest of a man yesterday (Friday 9 January, 2015). The 18-year-old was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with assault police, hinder officer in the execution of duty and affray.

He was granted conditional bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday 5 February, 2015.

About 8.30pm (Wednesday 7 January, 2015), police from Miranda Local Area Command responded to reports of a brawl in the Cronulla Plaza (Cronulla Street), Cronulla.

Officers from the Transport Command, Dog Squad, St George and Sutherland Local Area Commands attended the location and were forced to use capsicum spray to break up a brawl involving approximately 15 to 20 people.

One officer – a female detective – was assaulted as she attempted to stop the brawl. She was taken to St George Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Inquiries are continuing.
