THE WOLFE BROTHERS – LET’S HIT THE ROAD TAMWORTH COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL 2018

WEDNESDAY 24TH JANUARY – BLAZES AUDITORIUM @ WESTS

There is no question about it – The Wolfe Brothers 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival show is going to be one hell of a party! Since launching their rockin’ Let’s Hit The Road Tour earlier in 2017, The Wolfe Brothers have been delighting audiences with all their hits, and a swag of new material, written during their Nashville trip mid-year. Now, the Tassie-favourites are bringing their Let’s Hit The Road show to the Tamworth Country Music Festival for one night only, before announcing more dates for 2018.

The Wolfe Brothers are one of the hardest working country rock bands on the Australian scene today. They haven’t stopped since they smashed onto the scene in 2012 – and they have no plans to start taking it easy. They’ve been out on the road consistently throughout 2017, either with mate Lee Kernaghan, celebrating his 25th Anniversary Tour, or with their own headline shows. The Wolfe Brothers have long been revered for their tight performances and affable approach, and their shows are always a huge party!

The band’s Tamworth Country Music Festival show is going to be something a little bit special. According to lead singer Nick Wolfe, they’ve got a surprise or two in store for fans. “With our new album getting closer and closer, those who attend our Tamworth show can expect an exclusive preview of the new material,” he says. “After all, what better place to road test new songs than in Australia’s country capital. We look forward every year to our Tamworth Festival show and we intend to give everyone who comes along a really good time! Jody Direen will be joining us too, it’s set to be a really great night!”

For bassist Tom Wolfe, getting back to Tamworth Country Music Festival is always a highlight for the band. “Our Tamworth show will be our biggest yet,” he says. “We will be debuting some new songs, and bringing a few special guests – I mean, anything can happen at Tamworth! Tamworth is a melting pot of the Australian country music community. We can not wait to be there with the heat, music and mates.”

The band’s trip to Nashville earlier in the year was a creative powerhouse. “The songwriting on this trip feels like we have stepped up another level,” says guitarist Brodie Rainbird. “We have spent so much time in Nashville over the last couple of years that it is our second home, and we feel very settled and relaxed there now. The past experience of writing the last album there has given us the confidence to approach these songwriting sessions with much more focus on what we want to achieve, in terms of a direction for the next album.”

The Wolfe Brothers most recent album This Crazy Life hit #2 on the ARIA country charts and has spawned three #1 singles, making it 10 singles in a row from the last three albums to hit the #1 spot on the country charts. Their latest smash – a duet with Lee Kernaghan on his single Damn Good Mates – has also spawned airplay around the country.

The Wolfe Brothers forthcoming, as-yet-untitled, fourth studio album is due for release mid-2018.

The Wolfe Brothers Let’s Hit The Road show at the 2018 Tamworth Country Music Festival will certainly be one to remember. The band will be joined by special guest Jody Direen. Tickets are on sale now.

THE ANGELS GET READY TO HIT THE ROAD WITH A MASSIVE TOUR FEATURING SOME VERY SPECIAL GUESTS

ROSE TATTOO, HITMEN DTK, MI-SEX, DIESEL & DAVE WILSON BAND ON SELECT SHOWS

Legendary Aussie rock band The Angels have covered a lot of ground in their career and now they’re heading out on the road to showcase the best bits of it! Celebrating their most recent album release – Brothers Angels & Demons – a collection of their greatest works, the band are getting ready to do what they do best, pack out rooms and play some awesome, loud and unforgettable rock! In what marks almost five decades of rock, the band celebrated with a tell-all biography, penned by industry alumnae Bob Yates, The Angels, giving an insight into the behind-the-scenes happening of the iconic band. And what a five decades it has been – The Angels are still rockin’ harder than ever.

The Brothers, Angels & Demons tour will complement the recently released double album – showcasing audience favourites and some rarities. “The Angels has always been about playing our music live,” says John Brewster. “This show will encompass some aspects that aren’t always a part of the show, like Rick [Brewster] playing some keyboards, some acoustic performances and the odd special guest. These shows will knock the fans out.”

One of the exciting things about the upcoming tour is that it features hand-picked special guests for each show – bands who have been a special part of The Angels’ story over the years. The tour includes guest performances on select shows by Diesel, Rose Tattoo, MI-SEX and Hitmen DTK, as well as the Dave Wilson Band. “We have reached a moment in time when we are celebrating the whole journey,” says John. “These bands are part of that journey. It just seems right to include them in our, and the fans’, celebration.”

This is just the start, with 2018 already shaping up for a big one as well. It will mark 40 years since the release of the band’s ground breaking multi-platinum album Face To Face, which will be a massive celebration in itself. Looking back – and forward – John says the band is all about the music, and all about the fans. Something that hasn’t really changed in almost five decades and is even more paramount today.

“Put simply, there are five musicians who want to be there, who are all writing and recording new music for The Angels and who share a passion for the greatest rock experience ever – a live show,” he says. “Rock on! We couldn’t have done it without the fans. The band has always been about doing it in front of people, writing a new song, and testing it on the audience… you know straight away whether the song works or not. We’re grateful for their part in the whole process. Vive les fans!”

Tickets are on sale now. The Brothers, Angels & Demons double CD pack and the book The Angels by Bob Yates, with Rick Brewster and John Brewster are out now.

THE ANGELS JOINED BY SPECIAL GUESTS

Rose Tattoo have a long history with The Angels. “They were stable mates at Alberts when we signed in the mid-1970s, along with AC/DC, Ted Mulry Gang, John Paul Young, Harry Vanda and George Young,” says John. “We have toured many times in the past with the Tatts and want to do it again. They have monster songs and great attitude.” Another nice link is that long-time friend and former The Angels member Bob Spencer will be playing with the Tatts during the tour.

Hitmen DTK were a band who were heavily influenced by The Angels. “Johnny Kannis credits The Angels for introducing them to the suburbs at a time when they were an inner-city band,” says John. “They did many gigs with us around Sydney and are welcome guests.”

In fact, Hitmen DTK’s Johnny says The Angels kick-started their career in the suburbs. “You guys introduced us to the beer barns of Australia and to an audience that loved passionate, adrenalin driven rock n roll, an audience we’d never have gotten on our own,” he says. “Through this first up connection, our big break came when we caught the eye of your producer Mark Opitz who signed on to produce our debut (self-titled) album.”

No strangers to performing together of late, MI-SEX and The Angels have a special shared history, especially given The Angels book author Bob Yates was former manager for the band. “MI-SEX were signed to CBS back when we joined that stable in 1980,” says John. “They were on tour with us in the USA at the same time as us, so we have a shared history. Last year we had them as special guests on our Hard Wired tour and they were fantastic.”

MI-SEX’s Murray Burns remembers the first time the band saw The Angels in the late 1970s at the encouragement of Bob Yates. “The place was jam-packed and their high-energy performance was a revelation to us,” he says. “MI-SEX had a very different sound to them, but watching that show was a crucial beginning to reshaping the energy of what we were doing on stage.”

Diesel came onto The Angels radar a bit later – it was the early 1990s after the launch of his band Johnny Diesel and The Injectors. “They [the band] were managed by our then drummer Brent Eccles,” says John. “In later years, Diesel played on the same bill as us at Day On The Green gigs and others. He joined us on stage at the Chris Bailey benefit in Adelaide’s Thebarton Theatre in 2013, a most memorable though sad occasion. He is a good friend… great to have him with us.”

The newest inclusion, the Dave Wilson Band, impressed Rick Brewster from the outset. “Dave is a fantastic blues-rock guitarist,” he says. “He and his three-piece band play wild versions of Hendrix-Stevie Ray Vaughan-Clapton etc. I met Dave 18-months ago and have since had many sessions with him. He has opened up doors in guitar playing that I never knew existed. He has become a good friend and also teaches my son Jody. Come early, the Dave Wilson Band is not to be missed.”

THE ANGELS ANNOUNCE THE BROTHERS, ANGELS & DEMONS TOUR

On the day The Angels release their highly anticipated double album Brothers, Angels & Demons, the legendary rock band have announced an exciting tour of the same name, celebrating all their greatest hits. It has been an incredible year for The Angels. In what marks almost five decades of rock, the band celebrated with a tell-all biography, penned by industry alumnae Bob Yates, The Angels, and scheduled an intimate run of book shows talking about the behind-the-scenes happening of the iconic band. Now it is time to get back to the music, bringing the band back out on the road for what they do best, playing live.

The Brothers, Angels & Demons tour will complement the double album – showcasing audience favourites and some rarities. “The Angels has always been about playing our music live,” says John Brewster. “This show will encompass some aspects that aren’t always a part of the show, like Rick [Brewster] playing some keyboards, some acoustic performances and the odd special guest. These shows will knock the fans out.”

One of the exciting things about the Brothers, Angels & Demons tour is that it features hand-picked special guests for each show – bands who have been a special part of The Angels’ story over the years.

It is certainly a trifecta of celebration – the book, album and a massive tour. There is also an intimate book tour – featuring the Brewster Brothers and Raymond Hawkins – scheduled before the band officially hits the road, making it one of their busiest years to date. “It’s a huge year for us, a busy one with book signings, and promotional trips to various capital cities for Rick and me,” says John. “The book tour will be interesting as we’ll be answering some questions from the audience, playing some music stripped back to the two of us. It will be great to reunite with Raymond again, he was our amazing lighting director / designer at the time we put massive production into pub and theatre gigs. He was there with us when we toured the world and has great stories from those days. Then, to follow, the Brothers, Angels & Demons tour with wonderful guest bands who have history with us. This tour will take in large theatre venues and some regional clubs. The Angels camp is about to get very busy – the way we like it.”

We’re grateful for their part in the whole process. Vive les fans!”

Tickets for The Angels Brothers, Angels & Demons tour are on sale now. The Brothers, Angels & Demons double CD pack is released today, Friday 4th August 2017.

The book The Angels by Bob Yates, with Rick Brewster and John Brewster is out now. THE WOLFE BROTHERS – LET’S HIT THE ROAD – AUSTRALIAN TOUR READY SET RIDE – TOUR ROLLING OUT NATIONALLY UNTIL JUNE 2018

They’re one of Australia’s favourite country rock bands and now The Wolfe Brothers have image001announced the first dates of what will be a year-long jaunt called Let’s Hit The Road – Australian Tour. Easily one of the hardest working bands on the circuit today, if they’re not touring, they’re writing and recording – in fact, they haven’t really stopped since they smashed onto the Australian scene back in 2012.

The band has recently been in Nashville writing songs for their next album. In fact, they only just arrived back in the country on the weekend and are already looking forward to a busy 12-months ahead recording their fourth album. “We will be doing a lot more of our own shows around the country,” says Tom. “We will also continue touring with Lee Kernaghan on his 25th anniversary tour, which has been such a huge success! We’re excited that it will now be extending into next year!”

The Nashville songwriting trip was a creative powerhouse.

Rightfully considered as one of the hottest live country bands in Australia, The Wolfe Brothers are renowned for their tight performances and affable approach. With the release of the first leg of their Let’s Hit The Road – Australian Tour for 2017, the second leg – slated for 2018 – will be announced in coming weeks. The band is looking forward to sharing some of their biggest hits – and new material – with fans on the road.

Lead singer Nick Wolfe says no night will be the same. “We are trying to evolve as a band,” he says. “We do not want to stay the same all the time, we want to grow and get better at what we do. Our goal is to achieve this on the new tour by giving the audience all the hit songs with some nostalgic covers but also share some new music with them before we release these songs on next album. It is always very satisfying to get the reaction of the hard-core fans to our new songs. We genuinely like to get them involved in the lead up to releasing a new album, and there is no better way to do that than to get the fan’s opinion of some new songs.”

The Wolfe Brothers most recent album This Crazy Life hit #2 on the ARIA country charts and has spawned three #1 singles, making it 10 singles in a row from the last 3 albums to hit the #1 spot on the country charts. The current radio release, a duet with Lee Kernaghan on his single Damn Good Mates, has also spawned airplay around the country.

The Wolfe Brothers Let’s Hit The Road – Australian Tour will roll-out around Australia until June 2018. The band’s as-yet-untitled new album will be released mid-2018.

DANNII MINOGUE AND STARLEY TO HEADLINE CENTRAL STATION RECORDS 40TH BIRTHDAY AT HOME – THE VENUE

Central Station Records is synonymous with Australian dance music culture, and to celebrate 40 years since its inception, we are bringing together the A-List of Australia’s taste-makers and hit-makers for one night of pure debauchery. Set to take over Home – The Venue on Friday 11th August, with a plethora of DJs across three rooms, and live performances from Central Station’s very first pop star Dannii Minogue and most recent international success Starley.

Building her career on being a consummate professional, Dannii Minogue is pop music royalty and an icon within the LGBTI community. The Sydney exclusive performance will see Dannii Minogue dominate with a medley of hits including ‘I Begin To Wonder’ and ‘Put The Needle On It’, with as much flair as any Minogue show demands. After a whirlwind year, the label’s most recent success story, Starley, will be joining us for her first official Australian show. Her debut breakout smash ‘Call On Me’ has garnered over 430 million streams, and has just reached triple platinum in Australia. Starley will take mainstage with her live band who have recently performed on Good Morning America and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Ensuring the main room is filled to the brim with back to back anthems, we present the king of kings Mark Dynamix, a colossal DJ set from Andy Van of Madison Avenue success (‘Don’t Call Me Baby’), Mixology master Bexta, the first lady of house Kate Monroe, and all round legend Pee Wee Ferris. Paying homage to the trance and hardstyle scenes over the years, Nik Fish, Archie, Amber Savage, John Ferris, Andrew James and Baby Gee will be taking you on a journey through the scene’s biggest moments under Sydney’s longest running club banner, Sublime. Last but not least we have a classic Vinyl only set from some of the key Oxford Street Store and label DJs over the years, including none other than Kid Kenobi, Ben Morris, Trent Rackus, Illya, Matt Nuguent, Jo Palumbo, Jeff Drake, and Chris Fraser.

Central Station Records has been an integral part of the Australian music scene for 40 years – arguable responsible for the introduction of dance music, and the longest running indie label in the country. From Jo and Morgan opening the iconic Pitt St record store in the late 1970s, to the trials and tribulations of pioneering their way through an industry dominated by the major labels, it has been a long and prosperous journey – all laid to paper in the release of the tell all book ‘Music Wars – 40 Years of Central Station Records’ out now, along with a 3xCD compilation of the same name due 7th July.

THE RED HOT SUMMER TOUR RETURNS IN 2018 WITH THE ULTIMATE ROCK N ROLL LINE-UP SUZI QUATRO, THE ANGELS, BABY ANIMALS, THE SCREAMING JETS, MOVING PICTURES & CHOCOLATE STARFISH

The Red Hot Summer Tour is back in 2018 and the line-up is bigger than ever! The undisputed international Queen of Rock Suzi Quatro, joined by special guests The Angels, Baby Animals, The Screaming Jets, Moving Pictures and Chocolate Starfish. The touring regional festival has been selling out each year and with the enviable line-up in 2018, the event is travelling to new regions and venues which have previously not been part of the Red Hot Summer Tour run.

Promoter Duane McDonald says it is an exciting time to be part of the Australian touring festival scene and he can’t wait to take the Red Hot Summer Tour brand into new areas. “We have had wonderful support over the past eight years since we launched the Red Hot Summer Tour,” he says. “We wanted to make sure we could bring top-notch music to regional areas and audiences have embraced that concept. Now we have the opportunity to take the tour further afield and we will be launching shows in new venues in 2018, including taking the Red Hot Summer Tour to Western Australia for the first time ever. We can’t thank music fans enough for their support – we look forward to continuing to bring fantastic festival experiences to regional Australia.”

After a sold-out tour in 2014, Suzi Quatro is back to headline the ultimate rock n roll line-up. There are few female performers who have a career as successful and versatile as Suzi Quatro. When it comes to summing up her decades of music, there is no better way than to quote Suzi directly – “I will retire when I go onstage, shake my ass and there is silence”. It’s no surprise then to find out that Suzi has never stopped working in one guise or another, whether it is playing her solo rock show to packed houses, hosting her own show on the BBC Radio 2, performing on the West End or penning hit songs. To date, this enigmatic performer has sold over 55 million records, in fact, for a seven-year period in the 1970s she was featured in the British charts for an incredible 101 weeks. Her hits include The Wild One, 48 Crash, Devil Gate Drive, She’s in Love with You and If You Can’t Give Me Love to name a few.

When it comes to great Aussie rock, it doesn’t come much better than The Angels. It’s been over four decades since brothers Rick and John Brewster co-founded the iconic band and have penned some of Australia’s most anthemic tracks. The Angels are widely reputed for their killer live shows. With hits like Long Line, Marseille, Be With You, After the Rain, Shadow Boxer and Mr Damage to name a few. Audiences need to get ready to rock when The Angels take to the stage at the 2018 Red Hot Summer Tour.

Baby Animals burst onto the Australian scene in the 1990s with a solid rock force and a sassy lead singer. Suze DeMarchi proved that girls could rock just as hard as guys and the Baby Animals soon kicked some impressive rock butt with hits such as Rush You, Early Warning and One Word. The band scored themselves ARIA awards for best album and toured the globe. When they split in the mid-1990s they ended a special era of Australian music. The band’s inclusion on the Red Hot Summer Tour line-up is a rare chance for music fans to see their original rock at its best.

Aussie rock doesn’t get much more powerful than The Screaming Jets. After celebrating their 25th anniversary in 2014, they released a new long-player in 2016 – Chrome – an album which showed the band were still rockin’ as hard as when they first crashed onto the scene in Newcastle back in 1989. With a swag of hits such as Better, Helping Hand, Sad Song, October Grey and Come On under their belt, The Screaming Jets are renowned for their pumpin’ live performances. They – and rightfully so – earned themselves the reputation as one of the country’s hardest working touring bands early on and it is this notoriety that still sees them packing rooms at shows today.

Moving Pictures are one of those bands whose songs are part of the Australian psyche. Their 1980s classic What About Me epitomised Australian music at the time. Their debut album Days of Innocence was a chart topper both in Australia and overseas. The group disbanded in the late 1980s but reformed again recently much to audiences delight! Their inclusion on the 2018 Red Hot Summer Tour line-up is highly anticipated.

For music lovers looking for a special bit of concert showmanship, then they’re in for a real treat as Chocolate Starfish take to the stage. Fronted by the enigmatic Adam Thompson, the band is known for their high energy live performances. With songs like Four Letter Word, Mountain and You’re So Vain, Chocolate Starfish powered onto the Australian music scene in the 1990s and quickly secured themselves a space as an influential force. They produced two Top 10 albums and six Top 50 singles. Joining the Red Hot Summer Tour in 2018, this is a great opportunity for music fans to see one of the country’s most energetic bands in true festival style.

The Red Hot Summer Tour always sells out well in advance, and year after year it has been proven to be one of the best value for money concert experiences in Australia. Music fans are recommended to get in early to secure their tickets so they don’t miss out on one of the biggest line-ups of the festival to date.

Tickets are on sale at 9am on Thursday 8th June 2017 through Ticketmaster.
