Topology presents Share House

A “live-action silent film”, Share House follows 5 dysfunctional bandmates sharing a dishevelled flat and interwoven life; full of warmth, fun and unrequited love.

The housemates make their squalor bearable through making music, but they can’t ignore it forever. Disaster strikes, forcing each of them to face hard realities.

Portraying fictional characters while playing intricate original music, Topology explores an unprecedented mode of performance fusing physical theatre and music – a wordless narrative conveyed through virtuosic instrumentation.

A first of its kind, Share House opens eyes, ears and minds to a broadened landscape of artistic possibility in music and theatre.

"CAPTAIN H.O.S.H.": NEW IBIZA BOAT PARTY SERIES

“CAPTAIN H.O.S.H.”: NEW IBIZA BOAT PARTY SERIES
Bi-weekly Party Cruises hosted by the renowned Diynamic Artist + various special Guests

H.O.S.H. has announced his first very own event series on Ibiza: Starting from July 17th, he will host a bi-weekly boat party series on Thursdays under the name “Captain H.O.S.H.”. It will take place on the stunning Cirque de la Nuit Five Star Catamaran, which will cruise along the scenic coastline of Ibiza. The highly acclaimed DJ and producer, who’s an integral part of the Diynamic crew, will be joined by a very special guest DJ on each event. The closing party will take place on Sep. 11th after 5 massive cruises. The parties will be broadcasted live on Ibiza Sonica Radio.

In both 2012 and 2013, H.O.S.H. celebrated his exclusive private birthday bash on this Five Star Catamaran and the whole Diynamic crew joined the boat along with loads of special guests. Solomun and H.O.S.H. on the decks made everyone on board feel simply forever young! After those legendary events when H.O.S.H. turned the boat into the ultimate boat party on the island, he has been asked to return for more of such boat events in 2014. Said and done: H.O.S.H. developed the “Captain H.O.S.H.” concept, booked the boat for the whole season, invited DJ friends to play along to him and so this summer he will return with this fabulous party format to the magic White Isle for five exclusive dates only.

“Captain H.O.S.H.” will run bi-weekly on Thursdays from 13:00h to 17:00h, the boat will leave from Playa d’en Bossa; it will go along the natural park of Ses Salinas to Formentera’s white beaches and turquoise waters, where it will make a swim stop. The pre-party starts at 12:00 at Backstage / Hostal Cirque de la Nuit (opposite Sankeys) in Playa d’en Bossa. All the lucky ones who get hold of one of the very rare tickets can join H.O.S.H. and his boat crew this summer: It is always H.O.S.H. plus at least one more well-known DJ aboard.

About H.O.S.H.:
H.O.S.H. is one of the founder members of the much-admired Diynamic Music label, he owes a large part of its success and, as a result, has helped steer house music into unchartered waters.

Australia’s Silent Film Festival is proud to present two sessions in Newcastle

In conjunction with the Newcastle Museum, Australia’s Silent Film Festival is proud to present two sessions of restored classics in September.

The first session is a tribute to the inimitable Charlie Chaplin to celebrate his 100 years in film this year! Charlie’s genius captivated and enchanted audiences around the world within a very short period of time. That relationship has never ended. The whole world claims Charlie as its own: the qualities in his roles as director, actor and composer are timeless and universal.

On Saturday September 13 at 2pm, local musician, Greg Smith, shall accompany digital restorations of 4 of Charlie’s classic silent short comedies.

The first two on the program are the very first two films released to the public in 1914.

Newcastle University Choir "Remembers"

I Remember is the theme of their August 3 concert, and it’s also the title of a choral work by local composer Victor Marden. Vic will be joining the choir for this performance.

I Remember was first performed in 1998, to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of WWI. The work reflects Vic’s experiences as a boy, and is an act of remembrance for his father and his mother’s cousin.

Vic grew up in the seaside village of Selsey. Here he witnessed the dogfights of the Battle of Britain, as Hurricanes and Spitfires fought off the Junkers and Messerschmitts of the invading Luftwaffe. His father served in K Class submarines in WWI. These steam-propelled vessels became known as Kalamity Class – one of their problems being that in heavy seas seawater could enter the funnels and extinguish the boilers.

Vic recalls that his mother and her cousin were very close. She told Vic of their last farewell, when he left to go to war, never to return. His body was never found, and she was unable to find his grave. In 1948 Vic came to Australia. A music lover, he studied singing and became involved in stage productions. In 1977 he moved to Adelaide and joined the Adelaide Harmony Choir.

He composed his first work in 1991, and was encouraged to further his music studies. He studied composition with Russel Larkin, Music Director of the Adelaide Philharmonia Chorus. During this period he composed his Coromandel Trio for Violin, Piano and Cello, a number of waltzes, duets and songs for soloists and choirs.

I Remember is a love story, it reflects the experiences of those who lost their lives or loved ones in the tragedy of war. Our soloists will be Rebecca O’Mara, Emma Elsley, Paul Morris and Peter Willis.

LADY ANTEBELLUM'S UPCOMING FIFTH STUDIO ALBUM 747 TOUCHES DOWN ON OCT 3

Seven-time GRAMMY winning trio Lady Antebellum announced today that their fifth studio album 747will land in stores on Oct 3rd. The album’s sultry lead single “Bartender”  is already soaring up the country charts to become one of their fastest rising singles.  Nathan Chapman co-produced the 11-song disc with Lady A for the Capitol Records Nashville release.

“We unanimously knew that our album title had to be 747,” said Lady A’s Hillary Scott. “The track itself has this pushing, driving spirit about it that sums up our attitude right now.  We are pushing ourselves as a band and as songwriters…taking ourselves out of our comfort zone and not taking ourselves too seriously.   There’s an urgency and an energy to it that we’ve never released before.”

“We are so ready to get this music out,” continued Charles Kelley. “To get the reaction we’ve gotten from ‘Bartender’ has only made us more fired up about the rest of these songs!”

“We had the opportunity to write with some new songwriters and really dig for outside songs that were songs we wish we’d written,” added Dave Haywood. “As we took them into the studio, we changed our approach and challenged ourselves to try some new things that were outside of what we’d done before.”

The Academy of St. Martin in The Field players held an inspiring workshop and Family Cushion Concert

The Family Cushion Concert provided a fantastic new opportunity in Camden, on the 22nd June, enabling families to enjoy and learn from some of our brilliant performers of the Academy. The afternoon included interactive workshops for all ages, where they were given a unique chance to work with members of the orchestra on a piece which they played together in a vibrant performance in the afternoon. The concert included a varied programme, introducing the participants to great orchestral masterpieces, from Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro Overture to a polished performance of a Haydn Trumpet Concerto.

Following last years success, the musicians from the Academy will once again be inspiring young musicians from London in a new, creative project this summer. The ensemble will have the chance to work with players from the Academy over a period of three days, rehearsing, improvising and composing together to create new works and reimagine well-known classical masterpieces. Our Create, Cultivate, Orchestrate! projects are provided free of charge to young musicians aged 9-18 years from London, providing a great opportunity to perform in a concert at Canary Wharf following the full three days of professional workshops!
