NRMA Business Motoring To Give Away Tamworth Experience of a Lifetime!

The 2014 Tamworth Country Music Festival saw iconic Aussie brand the National Roads and 542ebd9dMotorists’ Association connect with Country Music for the first time. NRMA Business Motoring provides roadside assistance, fleet support and advocacy for 22,000 businesses across NSW and the ACT. Head of NRMA Business Motoring Matthew Beattie said supporting the Country Music business was a big part of the NRMA’s work in helping businesses across regional NSW and the ACT.

Since January, NRMA Business Motoring’s support of Country Music has grown to include the naming rights sponsorship of nation-wide tours including Golden Guitar nominated acts like Paul Costa and Kristy Cox, as well as helping kick start the career of rising star trio Georgia Fall.

“NRMA Business Motoring is all about keeping business vehicles on the road, so when we saw the chance to support exciting young bands touring like Georgia Fall who were going to spend many months on the road in 2014, it just made sense for us to get behind them as they arrive for success in the music business. ” Beattie said.

But NRMA Business Motoring is far from done with their support of the Tamworth Festival and will be back in a big way in 2015!

“At the 2014 Festival, our team experienced just how amazing Tamworth can be. So as we build awareness of how NRMA Business Motoring can help with business vehicles of all shapes and sizes, we wanted to give others the chance to share the same amazing party as well!” Said Beattie

With the help of superstar acts The McClymonts, O’Shea and Jetty Road, NRMA Business Motoring is proud to launch “The Great Aussie Country Party” competition. This competition will run from October to Mid-December. The grand prize will see a lucky winner and their guest attend Tamworth for the 10 days of the Festival thanks to NRMA Business Motoring.

This “Country Party” prize package includes up close and personal experiences with The McClymonts, O’Shea, Jetty Road, flights for two (2) people to Tamworth from any capital city in Australia, accommodation for two (2) people for the entire 10 days of the Festival, two (2) tickets to the NRMA Business Motoring Country Music Cocktails, two (2) tickets to all other five (5) NRMA presented concerts during the Festival, two (2) tickets to Country Music’s ‘Night of Nights’ the Golden Guitar Awards and transfers and travel during the Festival.

There is no denying that this prize package is simply a ‘Money-can’t-buy” experience for the lucky winners!

“The festival is the ultimate party in the country. So whether you are a fan of Country Music or not, we are pretty certain that if you win this prize, you will be converted for life.” Surmised Beattie.

The competition is open to all Australian citizens, and can be entered at www.nrmacountryparty.com

City Recital Hall – OTTOMAN BAROQUE AUSTRALIAN BRANDENBURG ORCHESTRA

City Recital Hall – OTTOMAN BAROQUE AUSTRALIAN BRANDENBURG ORCHESTRA
22 – 31 October

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra invites you on a journey presented with Whirling Dervishes, revered musicians from Turkey and musicians of the Greek meyhané tradition.

Tracing the journey of a mystical and imaginary traveller throughout Europe, Ottoman Baroque is a musical journey reflecting the riches, mysteriousness, influences and exotic sound of the faraway Orient.

Our traveller begins in France with the music of Lully and Marais, then passes through Germany (Telemann), Italy (Allegri) and Spain (Boccherini) before arriving in the eastern Mediterranean with the music of the meyhané tradition of Greece and Eastern Anatolia. Our traveller’s final destination is Turkey, where revered Turkish musicians and the Whirling Dervishes mesmerise, entrance and inspire.

instrumentation
The Ottoman Baroque series will feature some of Turkey’s finest exponents of the kudün (drum), qanun (a plucked string instrument), tambur (a fretted string instrument) and ney (a reed flute) and will culminate with the arrival of the spellbinding Whirling Dervishes.

story behind the music

Paul Dyer’s concept for the Ottoman Baroque series began with a conversation with a long time friend and supporter of the Brandenburg and culminated in his attendance at a ceremony of the famous Whirling Dervishes in Konya, Turkey. Here there was a fortuitous meeting between Paul and Esin Çelebi Bayru, Vice President of the International Mevlana Foundation. This meeting led to an invitation from Paul to Esin to travel to Sydney for these very special concerts.

Jimmy Barnes cancels appearance at Deni Ute Muster on doctor’s orders

It is with much regret that Jimmy Barnes has had to cancel his appearance at the Deni Ute Muster on Saturday, 4 October due to ongoing health problems.

Jimmy Barnes has been in hospital for the past few weeks after suffering further complications and setbacks as a result of elective back surgery.  Despite all hope and assurances given that he would be well enough to appear, it is now clear that this will not be the case and his doctors have ordered complete bed rest and organisers wish him a speedy recovery.

Jimmy said today “I’m so sorry, Musterers.  I’ve been hoping and doing everything I can to get myself well enough to join you next weekend but it’s taking longer to bounce back than we thought and I’ve had to pull out under doc’s orders.  The Deni Ute Muster is one of the great Australian events and to miss out on their 16th anniversary is heartbreaking for us all.  Sending special thanks to our friend for stepping in for us at such short notice – Thanks Kasey!”

Having just announced a national tour starting in November, and released her 10th studio album, Bittersweet, Australia’s much loved and Award winning Queen of Country, Kasey Chambers, is returning to the Muster stage and we couldn’t be happier.  Kasey said today “Sorry that Jimmy can’t make the Deni Ute Muster due to doctor’s orders but I’m happy to be stepping in to fill those mighty shoes on Saturday night… I’ve always loved playing at Deni and can’t wait to get that chance again this weekend. Will have to brush up on my Barnsey songs tho …. eek!! Get well Jimmy!”

The Deni Ute Muster is an iconic “bucket list” event for all Australians and with less than a week to go, there’ll be plenty of men, women and kids, and their utes, descending on Deniliquin for the 2014 instalment of the “Muster”.

With only 5 days left until the Deni Ute Muster kicks off its 16th birthday celebrations, the set-up is well and truly underway with Mack the Transporter and Lightning McQueen – two of the stars of the incredibly popular Disney-Pixar animated films Cars and Cars 2 – and the hugely anticipated, record-breaking, supercharged Holden GTS Maloo (declared as the WORLD’s FASTEST UTE) already on their way to Deniliquin.

Also on its way is the 1,000 horsepower JCB GT, a unique ‘one-off’ machine powered by a supercharged Chevrolet V8 big block engine and equipped with a belt driven supercharger and pair of four barrelled Holley carbs.  The JCB GT will be operated by “The Dig”, the nickname given to JCB Demonstrator Matt Lucas who has travelled with the GT from the UK.

The JCB GT will be joined in the Arena by the JCB Dancing Diggers, whose stunning acrobatics have become a YouTube hit.

These exciting drawcards are only part of the popular attractions on tap at the 2014 Deni Ute Muster.

Over the two days fans will be treated to the Bull Ride Spectacular, The Australian National Circle Work Championships, Yarn Bombing a Ute, the Ute Museum, Holden Grunt Off, Holden Barrel Race, Show ‘n’ Shine, Carnivale Corner, the World Record Blue Singlet challenge, helicopter rides, the mechanical bucking bull, woodchop demonstrations and Whip Cracking Championships and many more attractions setting the scene for what will undoubtedly be one hell of a Muster!!

Muster MC’s, The Sunny Cowgirls will also take to the main stage on Saturday afternoon for their own performance that will certainly be one to watch.  We also welcome back AFL Legend Billy Brownless, five time Olympic Medallist Melanie Schlanger and Olympic Swimmer Chris Wright as official Deni Ute Muster ambassadors at this year’s festival.

The 2014 Deni Ute Muster is proudly supported by the NSW Government through its tourism and major events agency, Destination NSW.

New shows on Radio Bondi

Axtone 2pm on Wednesdays.

Each episode will be featured in two halves… The first
half will be purely retrospective and is a journey through one of

inspiration and even guilty pleasures from time-to-time. The second
half of the show will host a guest mix from the featured artist and
will be firmly in the present and looking forward to the future.

Decoded Magazine Radio 1pm on Thursdays.

In a saturated and cloned dance music market, it is becoming all too
common to merely emulate, rather than stand out, be unique and create
memorable music. Our passion for timeless, creative and intimate music
allows us to filter through to the artists we invite to join Decoded
Magazine We do not look for just anyone, we are looking for people who
create memorable music that inspires and invokes emotion, rather than be
disposable chart topping hits and mixes.

almost every week we have a special guestmix, in the past we have had
Ferry Corsten, Tigerlilly, Wolfpack DJ’s From Mars etc.

Juze’ productions got huge A-List support from guys like Tiesto, Nicky Romero,

great music but also fresh new tunes by remarkable international top-DJs every

The Future’ tune and with the amount of great DJs as Juze’ guests, ‘JuzeUp’ is

A.R.T. CENTRE FINDS A NEW HOME

The Australian Road Transport Heritage Centre has found a new home in Gundagai. The
museum was to be established in Tarcutta, but unfortunately for the village a new site
has been chosen at Gundagai. After many frustrating years for the committee trying to
get the project off the ground at Tarcutta, the decision was made to explore Gundagai
as an option. The Gundagai Shire council was very excited by the concept and have
been very proactive with the committee – a lot has been achieved in a very small period
of time in Gundagai.
The new proposed site is 2 Middle Street Gundagai, with construction to commence
once the purchase of the land is complete.
Whilst this is disappointing for Tarcutta, there were a few factors that led to the move
including development application requirements and ensuring enough volunteer staff to
man the museum once open.
Gundagai council requirements have been a lot more flexible and the larger population
base ensures more volunteers are available to open the museum on a daily basis.

HOLBROOK LANDCARE

HOLBROOK LANDCARE In partnership with Landcare NSW and Pozible,
Holbrook Landcare has launched a crowdfunding
campaign to raise $15,000 to help Find Nanno (and no,
we are not trying to find Nano Mackinlay!) The Nanno
we are after is a tiny fish called the Southern Pigmy
Perch. This native fish is endangered with only 3
populations know to exist around Holbrook. We want
to determine what the population is out there and the
habitat they need to survive. To help us help “Nanno”,
you can:
1.Join Holbrook Landcare Network’s Facebook page
and share our posts with all your friends
2.Follow us on twitter @HolbrookLN and
#FindingNanno and retweet us!!
3.Encourage everyone you know to visit our website.
4.Or pledge your support and earn rewards!
To make a pledge towards this campaign go to the HLN
website, click on the Finding Nanno news story on the
front page, and click the link to the Finding Nanno
campaign. Your pledge is only redeemed if the target
$15,000 is reached. We appeal to everyone across the
district to help share this story, pledge if you can and
help us save “Nanno”. For further information contact
the HLN office 6036 3181 or drop in for help with your
pledge.
HLN will be represented in the Landcare shed at the
Henty Machinery Field Days. It’s a good opportunity to
see exactly what has been achieved through project
delivery both locally and regionally and a chance to see
what other landcare groups are up to, so feel free to
drop in and have a chat.
Holbrook Landcare’s Carp, Kelp & Christmas Island
project is holding its final field day on 23 October at
“Spring Valley”, Holbrook. The project has been
trialling a range of alternative fertilizers and soil
biostimulants available to producers in the Holbrook
area and comparing them to superphosphate (the
control). For further information on this project or to
RSVP to this event, please contact the HLN office.
