LEO SAYER TAKES HIS GREATEST HITS AND RESTLESS YEARS ON THE ROAD IN 2015!

Grammy Award-winning international superstar, Leo Sayer, today announced details of the Restless Years Tour 2015, his first solo national Australian tour in over four years.

The Restless Years Tour kicks off on 4 February and will take in over 30 theatres across the country with Leo delivering his legendary hit-packed live show as well as launching his latest album, Restless Years, scheduled for release on 23 January 2015.

With over 80 million albums sold worldwide, 25 Top 10 international hits, 5 Top 10 albums and writing credits for the likes of Roger Daltrey, Cliff Richard, Dolly Parton and Tina Turner, Leo Sayer’s career has been one of stellar proportions.

From his first big single, The Show Must Go On, from the hit debut album, Silverbird (1973), Leo Sayer has had a seemingly never ending stream of hits – One Man Band, Long Tall Glasses, Moonlighting, You Make Me Feel Like Dancing, When I Need You, Thunder in My Heart and More Than I Can Say all topped the charts in the 70’s and 80’s.  His most recent UK No. 1 came in 2006 with a remix of Thunder in My Heart, introducing a whole new generation to the magic of Leo Sayer.

With over 40 years of recording and touring the globe behind him, Leo Sayer is showing no signs of slowing down, always living by his motto “The Show Must Go On”.

Leo added, “I’m really excited to be starting 2015 with a big national tour and my new album ‘Restless Years’.  We’ve got a great band and new material, a bunch of classic hits and I’m raring to go. See you soon!”

Leo Sayer’s new album Restless Years, to be released in January, 2015, was recorded in ARIA Award winner, Mitch Cairns’ Little Red Jet Studio and was mixed by the legendary John Hudson of London’s Mayfair Studios who, like Leo, now calls Australia home.

Tickets for the Restless Years Tour go on sale from 10.00am local time, Monday, 24 November 2014 (excluding Seymour Centre, which go on sale on Wednesday, 26 November).

Tania Kernaghan to MC at Slim Dusty Awards

YOU are invited to the inaugural Slim Dusty Community Mateship and Youth Awards Gala Dinner Event.

It is the sixth year the awards have been staged, but the first time they will be announced at a special function.

The gala dinner will be held at the Slim Dusty Centre on Friday, November 28.

Popular Australian Country Music Singer Tania Kernaghan will be the MC for the evening.

“I am thrilled to be the MC for the Slim Dusty Mateship and Youth Awards this year,” Tania said.

“I love that these Awards celebrate life values, like fairness, mateship, family, community and life-long learning.”

Tania has hosted the Tamworth Songwriters Awards numerous times, co-hosted the CMA’s prestigious Golden Guitar Awards and emceed a wide range of gala events for the highly regarded Outback Trailblazers Angel Flight Charity. She has also presented and been an integral part of various Outback Queensland Tourism Awards and Events.

Dress will be semi-formal and entertainment for this special evening will be Anne Kirkpatrick and Slim’s own Travelling Country Band.

A lucky door prize will be available for one lucky guest – a Gold Coast Accommodation Package will be given away courtesy of The Macleay Argus. The package includes four nights accommodation for two people at a resort on the Gold Coast.

Tickets to the prestigious dinner are $85 per person or a table of 10 is only $75 per person.

Members of the Slim Dusty Centre, the ‘Mates of Slim Dusty,” will receive a 10 percent discount off their ticket price.

Amber Lawrence has been nominated in two different categories for the 2015 CMAA Golden Guitar Awards

Amber Lawrence has been nominated in two different categories for the 2015 CMAA Golden Guitar Awards, including Toyota Heritage Song of the Year for “The Lifesaver”, and Female Artist of the Year for her album, ‘Superheroes’, released in September through Social Family Records.

When Amber wrote “The Lifesaver”, she wrote it with the love of her late father, a well known Maroubra Beach surf lifesaver, in her mind and heart. She knew it was a special song from the moment it started to come together, and it’s now apparent that the rest of Australia agrees with her, with her nomination for Toyota Heritage Song of the Year.

“I cried when they read out The Lifesaver. This song means everything to me – I am so happy! And Female Artist of the Year is super cool, too!” said Amber Lawrence, following the exciting news.

Always the hard worker not afraid to get out there and just do it, Amber contributes her love of music and life to her mother and father, and is grateful for every opportunity that comes her way, including previous nominations for what has so far been an elusive Golden Guitar for the popular country singer. With the strength of her new album, ‘Superheroes’, and touching tribute to her father with “The Lifesaver”, 2015 could well be Amber Lawrence’s year to shine and take home her first gong.

The CMAA Golden Guitar Nominations Ceremony, hosted by Catherine Britt and Morgan Evans, also saw Amber perform the first single, “Superhero”, from her new album, ‘Superheroes’.

The Tamworth Country Music Festival takes place from January 16th to 25th, 2015, with Amber performing at Blazes on Friday, January 23rd. The Country Music Awards of Australia (The Golden Guitars) will be held at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre on January 24th.

Walking in the Air – An Evening of Music Composed by Howard Blake Conducted by Sir Neville Marriner

Tuesday 25th November, 7:30pm
St Martin in the Fields, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 4JJ

Blake The Snowman Fantasia arranged for string orchestra
Blake Flute Concerto Op.493a
Blake Clarinet Concerto Op.329
Blake Serenade for Wind Octet Op.419

This glorious concert sees a much anticipated reuniting of the Academy and the music of Howard Blake. This follows the release of ‘The Barber of Neville’ on Pentatone Classics last year. The album features the melodic and expressive Flute and Clarinet Concertos performed this evening by the Academy’s own Principal Flautist Michael Cox and Principal Clarinettist James Burke. No tribute to Howard Blake, especially one at winter time, would be complete without a performance of the beloved score to The Snowman. This concert sees the very first performance of the score in a new arrangement for String Orchestra, commissioned from Howard Blake by Sir Neville Marriner who conducts this evening’s concert.

Book now from St Martin in the Fields’ Box Office on 0207 766 1100 or online from their website.

A Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre Community Production Season 1 – 8 November

This is What Love Looks Like

Away is a community production, which means a lot of things. There is a lot that has gone into it and a lot of people have gone without to bring the play to completeness. I laughed recently when I got a phone call from home. My teenage daughter was moaning about the lack of food in the house “I don’t know why you even had me, if you weren’t going to feed me.” She’s fine, by the way.

If you volunteer for a theatrical production your motives might be very different to the next person. Rehearsals start, construction and design starts, but life continues outside the rehearsal and production zones; and life is busy and complex and emotionally charged. So thank you to the family and friends of everyone involved in Away, for allowing your loved ones the space and time to participate in this wonderful play.
