Man charged after firearm and drugs seized – Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged after a search warrant in Wagga Wagga uncovered a firearm and drugs yesterday.
About 10.20am (Thursday 24 March 2016), police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command stopped a vehicle as it left a home on Elanora Place, Glenfield Park, and spoke with the 34-year-old male driver.

Officers then executed a search warrant at the man’s address on Elanora Place.

During the search warrant, police allegedly located a SKS rifle, ammunition, knuckle dusters, and drugs, believed to be ‘ice’.

The man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

He was charged with possess unauthorised prohibited firearm, possess unregistered firearm, not keep firearm safely, possess ammunition, holder of category A or B licence not have approved storage, possess, supply or make explosive for unlawful purpose, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, and deal with proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Friday 25 March 2016).

Hundreds of litres of diesel spills on road after two-truck crash on Hume Highway

A two-truck smash has caused hundreds of litres of diesel to spill onto the Hume Highway near Bowning, firefighters say.

One person sustained minor injuries when the two northbound b-double trucks crashed about 6.30am on Wednesday morning, NSW Police said.

Firefighters are working to contain up to 400 litres of spilt fuel, just south of the Lachlan Valley Way turnoff.

Drivers are advised to reduce speed and exercise caution although traffic is flowing freely.

In a separate incident, a large amount of fuel spilled onto the highway near Goulburn after two trucks collided about 2.30pm.

Northbound traffic was delayed after the vehicles crashed and one truck caught fire near Tiyces Lane at Boxers Creek.

No-one was injured. Police had left the scene by about 3.30pm.

Man charged with drug offences – Mount Hutton

A man will appear in court next month charged with drug offences in the Lake Macquarie area.

Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command commenced an investigation in January 2016 in relation to drug supply in the local area.

As a result of their inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a home on Tennent Road, Mount Hutton, just before 8am yesterday (Wednesday 23 March 2016).

Officers allegedly located and seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, cannabis seeds and cash.

Following further inquiries, investigators attended a home on Balemo Cres, Windale, where they located and seized a Holden ute and a Quintrex boat, both of which had been reported stolen.

A 60-year-old man was arrested at the Mount Hutton home and taken to Belmont Police Station.

He was subsequently charged with three counts of possess prohibited drug, supply prohibited drug, and deal with property suspected proceeds of crime.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 13 April 2016.

Inquiries are continuing.

Man charged after allegedly filming woman on train – Police Transport Command

A man has been charged after allegedly filming a woman on a Newcastle bound train last week.

About 10.30am on Thursday (17 March 2016), a 22-year-old woman boarded a train on the Hunter Line from Central Railway Station.

About 1pm that afternoon, she awoke to find a male passenger allegedly filming up her clothing.

She confronted the man and he left the train at Cardiff Railway Station.

The woman later reported the matter to officers from the Police Transport Command.

Following further inquiries, about 11am today (Wednesday 23 March 2016), officers attended a home on Mitchell Close, Cessnock, where they arrested a 30-year-old man.

A phone and computer hard drives were also seized from the property, which will now be examined by specialist officers.

The man was taken to Cessnock Police Station, where he was charged with filming persons private parts without consent and offensive conduct.

He has been granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Toronto Local Court on Wednesday 20 April 2016.

Goulburn crash sparks lengthy Hume Highway delays for motorists

A man was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after his car collided with a truck on the Hume Highway near Goulburn, sparking lengthy delays for northbound motorists on Monday afternoon.

Emergency services crews and a police crash investigation team were called to the scene of the crash about 2.30pm.

Police said the car’s male driver was airlifted to Canberra Hospital in a serious condition.

The driver of the truck would undergo mandatory blood and urine testing.

Northbound lanes of the highway near the Hume Street turn-off were closed for at least two hours, and police put a contra-flow lane in place to let motorists through and ease delays.

Drivers were urged to avoid the area due to heavy traffic, with queues stretching about four kilometres south.

All lanes were reopened by 6pm but traffic in the area remained congested.

Police appeal after man assaulted – Tamworth

Police are appealing for information following a robbery and assault in the state’s north west this morning.

Shortly after 1am (Tuesday 22 March 2016), a 27-year-old man withdrew cash from an ATM on corner of Bridge and Crown Street, Tamworth.

Upon returning to his vehicle, he was approached by another man who demanded money. The 27-year-old man refused and he was then hit twice on the right leg with a metal object.

A second man got out of a nearby vehicle and approached the 27-year-old man as he yelled for help. He grabbed the victim, threatened him and took his wallet.

A group of people who witnessed the incident called out to the two men to stop. The men then got into a white car and were last seen driving down Crown Street.

The 27-year-old man attended Tamworth Police Station with the metal object and reported the incident.

Officers attached to Oxley Local Area Command commenced an investigation and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Police are particularly interested in speaking to the group of people who witnessed the assault.

The first man is being described as Caucasian, late 30’s, 180cm tall, of a thin build with a grey and brown beard and wearing dark clothing.

The second man is being described as Caucasian, late 20’s, with a medium build and dark hair.

Man charged over Wangi Wangi robbery – Robbery and Serious Crime Squad

Police have charged a man in relation to the armed robbery of a registered club in the Lake Macquarie area in 2012.

Strike Force Lockwood was established by the Robbery and Serious Crime Squad to investigate a number of robberies and break and enters in the Lake Macquarie and Newcastle areas in 2012.

That included the armed robbery of a club at Wangi Wangi on 18 November 2012.

Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 45-year-old man at Claymore, in Sydney’s south-west, yesterday (Monday 21 March 2016).

It will be alleged the man was at the location contrary to the conditions of an apprehended violence order.

He was taken to Macquarie Fields Police Station where he was charged with robbery whilst armed with a dangerous weapon and two counts of breach AVO.

He was refused bail to appear at Campbelltown Local Court yesterday and remains in custody to reappear on Wednesday 18 May 2016.

He is the second man to be charged over the incident.

Police investigate after hydroponic drug setup found – Port Macquarie

Police are investigating after a hydroponic drug setup was found at a house in Port Macquarie at the weekend.

About 4am (Saturday 19 March 2016), a three-year-old boy was found by a member of the public walking along Gordon Street wearing only a nappy. Officers from the Mid North Coast Local Area Command were contacted and attended.

As part of their inquiries, officers attended a Hollingworth Street residence. While at the residence, police allege cannabis plants were located, along with equipment used in their cultivation.

A crime scene was established as further investigations were conducted. A search warrant was executed and 17 cannabis plants, more than 300g of cannabis, an unregistered firearm and a prohibited weapon were seized.

About 4.45pm, a 39-year-old woman attended Port Macquarie Police Station and was charged with two offences including, take part in enhanced indoor cultivation of prohibited plants in presence of children, and take action that results in health/physical damage to a child.

She was granted conditional bail to appear at Port Macquarie Local Court on Wednesday 6 April 2016.

Other agencies have been notified.

Man dies, three injured in crash near Singleton

A man died and three people were injured when two vehicles collided on the New England Highway, north of Singleton, last night.

It was shortly before 8.30pm (Sunday 20 March 2016), that emergency services were called to the scene about 2km north of Rixs Creek.

Police from Hunter Valley Local Area Command, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, NSW Ambulance Paramedics and several rescue units arrived to find a Ford Focus hatchback and a Mitsubishi Triton utility had collided head-on.

The driver of the ute, a 38-year-old man, from Scone, sustained critical injuries and died on arrival at Singleton Hospital.

A 37-year-old woman and 12-year-old girl, also travelling in the ute, were taken to John Hunter Hospital, while the driver of the hatchback, a 21-year-old man from Singleton Heights, was taken to Singleton Hospital with minor injuries.

The New England Highway was closed for more than two hours while the vehicles were removed and

Crash Investigators examined the scene. They will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner.
