THE WOLFE BROTHERS HIT THE ROAD ON LEE KERNAGHAN’S NATIONAL TOUR – THE SONGS & THE STORIES IN CONCERT

The Wolfe Brothers are a band on a mission. There is no slowing these boys down, which is why this press release requires 3 headlines – and there is a story behind every headline.

On 3rd September the band embark on a 30-date national tour, of which 28 of these shows are with Lee Kernaghan on his The Songs And The Stories In Concert tour. The first show is in Townsville QLD and from there the tour travels through every state ending up in Newcastle on the 14th November. The boys will also be supporting the legendary Cold Chisel at the Deni Ute Muster on Friday 2nd October.

Brodie Rainbird the band’s guitarist says the tour is the perfect way to close out the touring cycle on the band’s second album Nothin’ But Trouble. “Being able to play so many shows to fans all around Australia in such a short time on Lee’s tour is something that we are very excited about,” he says. “Lee has been so good to us and we are eternally grateful for the opportunities he has given us over the last 3 years. We will be playing a selection of songs from both albums on this tour but we will be performing them in a semi-acoustic format, which we are really looking forward to. Then as a bonus we get to play with Lee as he performs songs from his Spirit Of The Anzacs album. We can’t wait.”

To mark the start of the tour The Wolfe Brothers have unveiled their latest single and video from their #2 ARIA Country Album Nothin’ But Trouble; the catchy ONE BEER AT A TIME. Filmed at one of the band’s favourite drinking establishments in their hometown of Hobart TAS, One Beer At A Time is an addictive Friday-night anthem. The Wolfe Brothers are brothers Nick and Tom Wolfe on vocals, guitar and bass, along with childhood friends Brodie Rainbird on guitar and Casey Kostiuk on drums. They burst onto the music scene in 2012, when they captivated the nation on Australia’s Got Talent and finished second on the program. Since then, they have been signed to ABC Music, they were named CMC’s 2013 Best New Artist, have scored four #1 singles in a row and have toured all over Australia. DENI UTE MUSTER The ultimate long weekend destination!

Just when you thought the Deni Ute Muster couldn’t get any bigger or better, organisers are thrilled that New South Wales residents won’t be the only ones getting to enjoy a long weekend thanks to the Victorian Government announcing that our southern friends will also be getting a day off on Friday, 2 October, making it the getaway destination for all your music, cars and AFL Grand Final needs!

Officially kicking off on Grand Final eve, this year’s world record Deni Ute Muster will be opening the camping grounds from noon Thursday so ticket holders will have an extra night on the Plains and wake up on site ready for the day’s entertainment.

Renowned for its diversity, organisers have outdone themselves this year with musical performances from Cold Chisel (their first show on their One Night Stand tour), Birds of Tokyo, Lee Kernaghan, Adam Brand, The McClymonts, Sunny Cowgirls, Morgan Evans and many more main stage and Ice Break Day Stage artists raring to take the stage.

Earlier today Cold Chisel announced that their new album, The Perfect Crime, will be released on Friday, 2 October, making our Musterers the very first people in the country to hear the band perform songs from the new album live and we can’t wait!

If an early start and a whole long weekend isn’t possible, Saturday Only tickets will be on sale from 9.00am tomorrow (Friday, 28 August) and it includes Saturday camping, but you’ll want to be sure to be on site early enough to catch the entertainment on the Ice Break Day Stage and the AFL Grand Final on the big screens in the main arena and in the on-site bars. Footy fans are encouraged to bring along their team jersey and their camp chair and join us in the main arena from 1.30pm on Saturday (just after the World Record Blue Singlet Count) to see which team will win the 2015 AFL Premiership Cup.

It’s not all about the music and footy either, this year sees a stellar line up of on-site entertainment including Showtime FMX, Holden Grunt Off, our favourite funny chicks – The Crackup Sisters, wood chopping and whip cracking demonstrations, GME Australian National Circle Work Championships, New Holland Bullride Spectacular, GME Go to Wo, helicopter rides, Holden Barrel Race and the Coates Hire Show N Shine.

If that’s not enough, two new attractions this year include the Yamaha Supertank – a giant fishing tank where you’ll be able to catch your own dinner, and IWA Pro Wrestling – a family-fun, action packed live show of body slamming, bone crunching non-stop sports entertainment.

The little ones will also be taken care of in Carnival Corner and the SunRice Family Centre.

Friday also sees the inaugural Milwaukee Tradie Challenge, proudly sponsored by Milwaukee Tools Australia, where tradies go head to head in the ultimate show of skill, design, innovation and good-old-fashioned Aussie ingenuity by building their own outdoor dunny, live in the main arena.

Man charged with identity fraud offences after T&HWP vehicle stop – Goulburn

A man has been charged with identity fraud offences after a traffic stop on the Hume Highway yesterday.

About 2.15pm (Thursday 27 August 2015), Southern Region Traffic & Highway Patrol Command officers were travelling south near Goulburn, when they stopped a white Mitsubishi Magna.

Officers spoke with the male driver who allegedly produced a NSW driver’s licence. Inquiries were made with the RMS (Roads and Maritime Services) which established that the licence number and identity were fraudulent.

Further inquiries were then made with officers from Macquarie Fields Traffic & Highway Patrol Command, who also stopped the same vehicle in early July. An alleged fraudulent driver’s licence was also produced to officers during that traffic stop.

A search of the driver located another three allegedly fraudulent NSW driver’s licences and a fraudulent Medicare card.

The man was arrested and taken to Goulburn Police Station where his identity was established as being a 28-year-old man from Braddon in the ACT.

Records show the man is currently disqualified from driving until July 2018 from offences allegedly committed in the ACT.

Traffic & Highway Patrol Command officers charged the man with 12 offences allegedly committed during the two traffic stops; exceed speed over 20km/h, use false document to influence exercise of public duty (x5), unlawfully possess thing that resembles Australian driver licence (x4), and drive while disqualified (x2).

The man was refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court today (Friday 28 August 2015).

Hero of Wantabadgery Senior Constable Edward Webb-Bowen honoured

Wagga Wagga Local Area Command, is honouring the ‘Hero of Wantabadgery’ Senior Constable Edward Mostyn Webb-Bowen who died in an exchange of gun fire in November 1879.

During an evening in mid November 1879, ‘Captain Moonlite’ and his gang held up Wantabadgery Station and took a number of hostages. After eating and drinking, the gang moved to a nearby pub, The Australian Arms Hotel, and more hostages were taken.

At 4am, officers from Wagga Police arrived and gunfire was exchanged with the gang. Officers retreated and waited for reinforcements from Gundagai. On arrival of Gundagai Police, the officers attended nearby McGlede’s farm and found ‘Captain Moonlite’ and his gang. Shots were exchanged and Senior Constable Webb-Bowen was shot in the neck. On Sunday 23 November 1879, Senior Constable Webb-Bowen, known as Edward Bowen, died as a result of the gunshot wound.

Project Bowen, was established in 2013 by the Wagga Wagga Police and the Wantabadgery community to raise awareness and funds to build a monument to remember the fallen officer. Following an archaeological survey, art exhibition, art auction and generous donations from individuals and local businesses, the monument was completed. Bowen’s grave in Gundagai was also restored. The monument now proudly stands adjacent to the Wantabadgey MacDonald Memorial Hall in Jewnee Street, Wantabadgery.

The memorial will be officially opened at 11:00am on 13th September 2015 by the Wagga Wagga Local Area Commander Superintendant Bob Noble. The opening will include a display of modern and historic police vehicles, police command bus, police helicopter, horses and re-enactors. People are encouraged to attend in period 1870’s- 80’s attire.

Opportunities will be provided to speak to police including the; air wing, highway patrol, detectives, women in policing and the dog unit. Interested members of the public are invited to attend and share in this celebration of community service.

Police appeal for information following break and enter – Lavington

Police are appealing for information following a break-in at a shopping centre in Albury.

About 3.10am today (Friday 28 August 2015), two men broke into a shopping centre on Griffith Road, Lavington.

Whilst inside the premises, the unknown men damaged a number of shops.

They then left the location with cash and other property.

The matter was reported to local police who commenced investigations into the incident.

Police would like to speak to two men who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

Both men are described as being aged between 18-21 years old and of a medium build.

The first man was wearing a white hat, grey hooded jumper with black cords, black track pants and white shoes.

The second man was wearing a black beanie, black bandana, green & yellow jacket, dark track pants and grey shoes.

Homemade gun located during search warrant – Wagga Wagga

Police are investigating the discovery of a homemade firearm and ammunition at a home near Wagga Wagga today.

Shortly after 2pm today (Tuesday 25 August 2015), police from Wagga Wagga Local Area Command executed a search warrant at a home in Ashmont.

Attending police spoke initially with a 20-year-old man until the owner of the premises, a 45-year-old man, returned a short time later.

Police located a shortened double barrelled shotgun, a second barrel for another firearm, a trigger mechanism and ammunition.

Also found was a homemade firearm, made from a building tool, while other devices were also located and seized.

Officers who entered the premises also removed a homemade cattle-prod type device which was seized.

The home owner was interviewed in relation to the items that were located and those that appeared to be homemade.

He was released pending further inquiries and forensic examination of the firearms.

Police investigate fatal crash – Rye Park, near Yass

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner following a fatal single-vehicle crash at Rye Park, near Yass last night.

About 3.30pm (Saturday 22 August 2015), emergency services were called to Dalton Road, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a Toyota Hilux was travelling north on Dalton Road, 10 km south-east of Rye Park, before it left the roadway, flipped, and crashed into trees.

The passenger of the car, an 11-year-old girl, suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
The driver, a 52-year-old man, was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics before being taken to Canberra Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A crime scene was established and officers from the Crash Investigation unit are investigating the incident.

Man charged with seven offences following information provided via Operation Roam – Holbrook

A man will appear in court over seven offences, following investigations by police under Operation Roam, which led to an alleged pursuit near Holbrook earlier this month.

NSW Police Force has joined Crime Stoppers Australia for Operation Roam 2015, to help track down wanted fugitives from across the country.

Police will use Facebook and Twitter to seek information from the community about a number of alleged offenders who may have left their state or territory and are now residing interstate.

During the launch of Operation Roam 2015, a 40-year-old man was one of those circulated as wanted by virtue of an arrest warrant.

Following information gathered, about 1.20pm on Wednesday 5 August 2015, police patrolling the Hume Highway, Woomargama, attempted to stop a Holden Barina, believed to be driven by the 40-year-old man.

Further checks revealed the vehicle was allegedly not registered.

The vehicle failed to stop, and a pursuit ensued to a rest area at Four Mile Creek where the driver stopped the vehicle and allegedly attempted to resist police, before he was arrested.

He was taken to Albury Police Station, where he was charged with:

– Drive motor vehicle while disqualified,

– Drive recklessly,

– Use unregistered motor vehicle,

– Use uninsured motor vehicle,

– Drive vehicle without correct registration,

– Resist officer in execution of duty, and,

– An outstanding warrant.

The man has been refused bail, to appear at Albury Local Court on 6 September 2015.

Firearms seized by police – Albury

Police have seized two firearms following ongoing inquiries into safe firearm ownership in the Albury area.

Officers attached to Albury Local Area Command attended a house on Benn Street, West Albury, about 2.40pm yesterday (20 August 2015).

Whilst at the location police spoke to a 25-year-old man and seized his two handguns.

The man was issued with a firearms licence suspension notice.

Investigations continue.
