Three charged over fire at home – Goulburn

Two men and a woman have been charged with offences relating to the arson of a home in Goulburn two years ago.

About 8pm on Saturday 24 August 2013, a passing motorist noticed a large amount of smoke coming from a semi-detached home in Lagoon Street.

A neighbour also heard an explosion and saw flames coming from windows in the home.

Police and emergency services attended and were able to determine that the home was empty.

The entire premises were destroyed by fire whilst an adjoining home also suffered fire, smoke and water damage.

Police from Goulburn formed Strike Force Bowood and commenced their inquiries into the cause of the suspicious blaze.

Investigators have now arrested and charged two men and one woman in relation to the incident.

A 24-year-old Crookwell man who was arrested on 26 May 2015 will appear at Goulburn Local Court on 17 June 2015 charged with aggravated break, enter and steal.

A 20-year-old Goulburn woman who was arrested on 11 June 2015 will appear at Goulburn Local Court on 15 July 2015 charged with aggravated break, enter and steal and maliciously destroying property by fire in company.

A 25-year-old former Crookwell man was charged today with aggravated break, enter and steal and maliciously destroying property by fire in company.

He was refused bail and will appear at Goulburn Local Court on 24 June 2015.

Police release CCTV images after attempted ram raid – Freemans Waterhole, Lake Macquarie

Police have released CCTV images following an attempted ram raid at a cafe at Freemans Waterhole, in Lake Macquarie, earlier this year.

About 3.30am on Friday 20 March 2015, two men drove a green Hyundai Excel to a cafe on Freemans Drive.

Inquiries revealed the vehicle had been stolen during a previous incident in Cooranbong.

The two men gained entry to the cafe and attempted to remove an ATM from inside the business.

One of the men then rammed the vehicle through the glass doorway of the business multiple times; before both men fled the scene empty-handed.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were alerted and established a crime scene at the location.

Investigations into the matter are continuing and police have now released CCTV images of two men who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first man depicted is described as having a dark complexion, of an average build and is shown wearing a blue hooded shirt with the letter ‘R’ on the back in red and black, dark-coloured shorts, black joggers, white gloves and has his face covered with a piece of material.

The second man depicted is described as being of skinny build and is shown wearing track suit pants, a blue hooded jumper, a baseball cap with a red peak and blue joggers.

Large police operation targets local drug suppliers – Wagga Wagga

A major police operation, targeting local drug suppliers, is currently underway in Wagga Wagga and surrounds.

In February (2015), police from the Wagga Wagga Local Area Command formed Strike Force Calyx to investigate more than 40 people believed to be involved in the supply of methylamphetamine (‘Ice’), MDMA, cannabis and other illicit substances. Officers were concerned about a wave of property crime in Wagga Wagga, Ashmont, Toland, Coolamin and Junee, and contended that the break-ins and thefts were being spurred by illicit drug use.

Over the course of this morning (Tuesday 16 June 2015), local police have executed search warrants at numerous properties in Wagga Wagga, Juneee and Coolamin.

So far, 11 people have been arrested.

More arrests are expected over the course of the afternoon.
