Three three p-plate drivers caught speeding near Goulburn

POLICE caught three p-plate drivers exceeding the speed limit near Goulburn on Friday, September 9.

At 6.25 am on that day, a black Subaru Forrester was detected by the Goulburn Highway Patrol travelling at 152 km/h on the Hume Highway near Goulburn.

The 18-year-old driver from Saratoga held a P1 licence, restricting his speed to 90 km/h.

He was issued with a $2350 infringement notice and his licence was immediately suspended for six months.

At 7.05 am on September 9 another black Subaru Forrester was detected on the Hume Highway near Marulan travelling at 162 km/h. The 19-year-old drive from Dee Why was the holder of a P2 licence, restricting his speed to 100 km/h.

He was also issued with a $2350 infringement notice and his driver’s licence was immediately suspended for six months. The female passenger took over the driving and they continued south.

Then at 7.40 am the second black Subaru Forrester was again detected speeding at 120 km/h in Goulburn. The vehicle was stopped and the 20-year-old woman driver from Curl Curl held a P2 licence, restricting her speed to 100 km/h. She was issued with a $265 infringement notice.

Police said neither driver of the Subaru’s owned the vehicle. Therefore, no vehicle sanctions were applied.

Man wanted on outstanding warrant – Hamilton

Police are appealing for information into the whereabouts of a man wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Anthony Slater, aged 25, is wanted by virtue of arrest warrant for a serious assault offence.

Police continue to make inquiries and are appealing for assistance from the community to locate him.

Mr Slater is known to frequent the Hamilton and Tamworth areas.
Anthony Slater is described as being of Aboriginal/TorresStrait Islander appearance, about 150cm to 165cm tall and a thin build. He has short black hair.
If anyone knows his current whereabouts, they are urged not to approach him as he may be armed, but to contact police via Triple Zero (000) or Crime Stoppers.

Police appeal for information after armed robbery near Lake Macquarie

Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery near Lake Macquarie yesterday.

Police have been told just after 4pm (Tuesday 13 September), an unknown man entered a shop on Hexham Street, Kahibah, armed with a knife.

The man then demanded money and left the store with cash. He was last seen walking down Kenibea Avenue.

The man is described as being in his mid 30s with a medium build and about 178cm tall with short shaved hair. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.

Former teacher charged over historical sexual assaults – Wagga Wagga

 

Police investigating a number of alleged historical child sexual assault offences have charged a former teacher in the state’s south today.

Strike Force Cornet was established by Wagga Wagga detectives to investigate a number of incidents alleged to have occurred between 1964 and 1992 at a high school in Junee.

About 8.30am (Tuesday 12 September 2016), officers attended a home in Junee and arrested an 81-year-old man, who was a teacher at the high school between 1964 and 1992.

The man was taken to Junee Police Station where he was charged with three counts of buggery. These offences relate to the sexual assault of a 12-year-old male student over a five year period.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Wagga Wagga local court on Wednesday 19 October 2016.

Detectives are continuing with inquiries.

CMA ANNOUNCES “FOREVER COUNTRY” SINGLE AND MUSIC VIDEO IN HONOR OF “THE 50TH ANNUAL CMA AWARDS”

In celebration of “The 50th Annual CMA Awards,” CMA has created the biggest video in Country Music history. Titled “Forever Country,” the single and accompanying music video features 30 CMA Award-winning acts. This single was produced by CMA Award-winning Board member Shane McAnally and the video was directed by Grammy Award-winning director Joseph Kahn.

The music video is set to an intricate medley of John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” Willie Nelson’s “On the Road Again,” and Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You.” All are former CMA Entertainers of the Year.

In another historic move, the single will be unveiled to the public Friday, Sept. 16 (Saturday, Sept 17 in Australia) in a global roadblock across Country radio, premiering on hundreds of radio stations simultaneously at 8:30 AM/ET across the U.S., in addition to premiering in key international markets. But fans will have to wait a few more days to see the full length music video; the video will make its worldwide premiere on Tuesday, Sept. 20 (Wednesday, Sept 21 in Australia).

For the past week fans have been buzzing across social media platforms trying to guess what the “Forever Country” project might be as the 30 acts featured in the video have been posting mysterious teasers created by CMA tagged with #ForeverCountry and driving fans to the website ForeverCountry50.com to see all of the artist teasers as they are released. Social teasers will continue to roll out this week until CMA announces the full list of participating artists.

“‘Forever Country’ is a moving tribute to Country Music, Country Music fans, and the artists who have built this format into what it is today,” said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “This music video is the product of the CMA Board of Directors who came together in support of this project as a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the CMA Awards, a statement on the heritage and future of the Country Music industry, and a reflection of this year’s Awards theme — ‘Then. Now. Forever Country.'”

“The 50th Annual CMA Awards” will be hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood and broadcast live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Wednesday, Nov. 2 (8:00-11:00 PM/ET) on the ABC Television Network. It will be simulcast in Australia on the Foxtel Country Music Channel.

“The 50th Annual CMA Awards” is a production of the Country Music Association. Robert Deaton is the Executive Producer and Paul Miller is the Director. The CMA Awards will be shot in high definition and broadcast in 720 Progressive (720P), ABC’s selected HDTV format, with 5.1 channel surround sound.
