Service station robbed – Lake Macquarie

Assistance is being sought from the public to identify two people who robbed a service station in the Lake Macquarie area overnight.

It was about 6.30pm (Saturday 13 August 2016), when two people – who had their faces covered – approached the business on the Pacific Highway at Highfields.

The store attendant locked the doors but the two people – and one of whom was armed with an iron bar – forced their way inside; the attendant then ran into the store room.

The couple took cash and ran from the store and police were alerted.

Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command established a crime scene and specialist forensic officers were called in.

Police now have descriptions of two people they believe can assist with this investigation.

The first person is male, described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall and a medium build. At the time the man was wearing black three-quarter shorts and black shoes.

The second person is female, described as also being of Caucasian appearance, about 165cm tall and a thin build with blonde hair. At the time she was wearing blue track pants with white stripes and shoes.

Both had their faces covered.

Man charged following barricade situation near Newcastle

A man has been charged following a barricade situation near Newcastle today.

About 11.50am (Saturday 13 August 2016), police were called to a home on Macquarie Street, Wallsend, after reports a man was refusing to leave the premises.

Officers from Newcastle City Local Area Command attended and spoke to a 42-year-old man.

It’s alleged the man became aggressive towards police and refused to leave, making a number of threats.

A perimeter was established and with assistance from police negotiators the man was arrested about 5.30pm.

The 42-year-old was taken to Waratah Police Station and charged with destroy or damage property (DV) and served with an AVO.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Sunday 14 August 2016).

Police appeal for information following armed robbery – Tamworth

Police are appealing for information following an armed robbery at a service station in Tamworth last night.

About 10.20pm (Friday 12 August 2016), three males entered a service station on Goonoo Goonoo Road, Tamworth.

Two of the men were armed with weapons.

One of the armed men threatened a 31-year-old male attendant and removed cash from the till.

A second attendant, a 27-year-old man, suffered burns to his lower body after an altercation with the two other men.

The males then stole cigarettes before fleeing.

Police have been told they were seen leaving in a stolen vehicle described as a gold Nissan Pulsar.

NSW Ambulance Paramedics attended and conveyed the 27-year-old man to hospital.

Officers from Oxley Local Area Command are investigating the incident and would like to speak to three males who they believe may be able to assist with their inquiries.

The first male is described as 16-19-years old. He was seen wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

The second male is described as 16-19-years old. He was seen wearing a blue hoodie with a motif on the front and black pants.

The third male is described as 16-19-years old. He was seen wearing a black hoodie with a white motif on the front and black pants.
