Car crash closes Hume Highway, between Kyeamba and Little Billabong

A SERIOUS car accident has closed the Hume Highway southbound between Tumbarumba Road in Kyeamba and Little Billabong Road in Little Billabong.

Southbound motorists are diverting onto Tumbarumba Road and then onto Little Billabong Road to rejoin the Hume Highway.

This diversion is suitable for all vehicles.

Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time.

Emergency services and traffic crews are on site working to free a trapped occupant, and a helicopter has also landed at this location.

All northbound lanes remain open.

Emergency services remain at the scene.

Woman dies in crash – Hunter Valley

A woman died and her four children were injured after a crash in the Hunter Valley.
About 5.45pm yesterday (Friday 18 March 2016), a Toyota Kluger being driven by a 49-year-old woman was travelling south on the Golden Highway, Sandy Hollow, west of Denman, when the vehicle left the roadway while negotiating a right hand bend.

The car collided with a large fence post before rolling and hitting a telegraph pole.

The driver died at the scene. Four child passengers, including twin girls aged 15, another girl aged 5, and a 12-year-old boy, were all taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

Police from Hunter Valley Local Area Command attended and conducted inquiries.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

Missing person located – Armidale

A woman missing from Armidale has been located.
The 63-year-old was reported missing after being last seen in Armidale about 9am on Thursday (17 March 2016).

About 5.30pm yesterday (Friday 18 March 2016), police attended Waterfall Way, Wollomombi, east of Armidale, after a local resident contacted police after recognising her car from the NSW Police Force Facebook post.

Inside the car, police located the missing person. She was taken to Armidale Hospital for treatment.

Police thank the community and the media for their assistance.
