Two men charged after more than 1kg of ‘Ice’ found in car – Jugiong

Two men will face court today, charged with drug supply, after police allegedly found more than 1kg of ‘Ice’ in the boot of a car in Jugiong last night.

About 5.40pm (Saturday 8 August 2015), police from Cootamundra Local Area Command stopped a Mitsubishi ASX on the Hume Highway.

Following investigations, officers searched the car and allegedly located over 1kg of drugs believed to be methylamphetamine (‘Ice’) in the boot.

The drugs were seized and will undergo forensic examinations.

The driver, a 37-year-old man, and passenger, a 19-year-old man, were arrested and taken to Gundagai Police Station.

They were each charged with supply commercial quantity of drugs, and possess prohibited drug.

Both men were refused bail and are due to appear at Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Sunday 9 August 2015).

Police investigate head-on crash – Armidale

Police are investigating a head-on crash in Armidale yesterday that has left seven people injured.

About 5pm (Saturday 8 August 2015) emergency services were called to Damaresq Dam Road, following reports of a crash.

Initial investigations suggest a Toyota Cressida, being driven by a 19-year-old man, and a Peugeot sedan, being driven by a 21-year-old man, crashed head on.

As a result of the crash, the driver of the Cressida was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, a 42-year-old man was also taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Peugeot, and four passengers, a 21-year-old man and three 20-year-old women, were all transported to hospital with serious injuries.

A crime scene has been established and officers from the Metropolitan Crash Investigation Unit are investigating the incident.

Police officer charged with drink-driving – Charlestown

An off-duty police officer has been charged with a drink-driving offence.

Shortly after 11pm yesterday (Friday 7 August 2015), officers from Traffic and Highway Patrol stopped a vehicle on the Pacific Highway, Charlestown, and subjected the driver to a random breath test.

The male driver was arrested after returning a positive roadside breath test.

He was taken to Charlestown Police Station, where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.063.

The officer, who is attached to Northern Region, was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for low-range PCA.

He is due to appear at the Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 2 September 2015.
