Mid-range PCA driver chooses poorly at Cooranbong

A man has been charged with drink driving after allegedly tail-gating the wrong driver on the M1 at Cooranbong yesterday.

A 43-year-old man was driving north about 2.50pm (Friday 2 September 2016), when he was stopped by Northern Region Commander, Assistant Commissioner Jeff Loy.

It will be alleged it was raining heavily when the man tail-gated the Assistant Commissioner before passing him at speed.

The Commander stopped the driver near Marshall Street with a subsequent roadside breath test returning a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Morisset Police Station where he allegedly returned a breath analysis reading of 0.110.

The man was charged with mid-range PCA and was conditionally bailed to Toronto Local Court on Tuesday 27 September 2016.

His licence has been suspended.

Traffic and Highway Patrol Command is conducting a high-visibility compliance operation across parts of Northern Region this weekend.

Operation Mega Drive Three is targeting potential road trauma incidents throughout the Hunter Valley.

Forty-eight police in 30 vehicles are involved in the saturation-style operation which started Friday morning (2 September 2016) and continues until Monday morning (5 September 2016).

Missing man from Belmont located safe and well

A man missing from his Belmont home since Tuesday has been located safe and well.

The 35-year-old man was reported missing when he failed to return to his Belmont home after leaving on Tuesday 30 August 2016.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were notified and commenced searching for him.

About 6.30pm last night (Friday 2 September 2016), police spoke to the man after he returned to his home, safe and well.

Police thank the public and media for their assistance.
