Teen critical after being struck by car – Newcastle

A teenager has suffered critical head injuries after being struck by a car while crossing the road in Lambton overnight.

About 1.30am (Saturday 18 June 2016), a 16-year-old boy was crossing at the intersection of Griffith Road and Acacia Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle travelling on Griffiths Road.

The boy suffered critical head injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle, who stopped and rendered assistance, was also taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

Officers from Newcastle City will continue their investigations and would like to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the crash.

Police appeal for missing man – Newcastle

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate a man missing in Newcastle since early yesterday morning.

About 1.30am (Thursday 16 June 2016), the 20-year-old Jackson Baker was with his girlfriend at a nightclub on Centennary Road, when he left the location alone.

When his girlfriend failed to contact him the next day, she contacted police.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command commenced a search for Jackson; however he has not been seen or heard from since.

Jackson’s family and police hold concerns for his welfare, as his disappearance is out of character.

Jackson is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, with brown short hair.

He was last seen wearing a green jacket, a grey and dark green striped t-shirt, cream trousers and grey ‘Nike’ shoes.

Police are following a number of lines of inquiry, including whether Jackson may have gone swimming alone in Newcastle Harbour in the early hours of Thursday morning.

Anyone who knows of Jackson’s whereabouts is urged to contact Newcastle City Police via Crime Stoppers.

Man charged with murder – Lake Macquarie

A man is due to appear in Newcastle Local Court today charged with murder.
Detectives attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command established Strike Force Retractor to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of a 28-year-old Christopher Daunt.

The Newcastle man disappeared in April 2015.

Investigators executed a search warrant yesterday (Thursday 16 June 2016) at a home on Elaine Street, Rankin Park.

A number of items were seized and will undergo forensic examination.

Police arrested a 33-year-old man at the premises and he was taken to Belmont Police Station.

The man was later charged with murder.

He was refused bail and will appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Friday 17 June 2016).

Investigators continue with their inquiries and will today further examine human remains located at Seahampton.
