A woman has been charged after allegedly wielding a knife at Newcastle today.<\/p>\n
About 11am (Tuesday 12 July 2016), police attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command attended Dixon Park, following reports a 33-year-old woman allegedly attempted to grab a child.<\/p>\n
Police have been told a man intervened and the woman threatened him with a knife.<\/p>\n
Officers arrived and after continuing to threaten police, she was tasered.<\/p>\n
The 33-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station before being taken to the Mater Hospital for assessment.<\/p>\n
She was later charged with custody of knife in public place, wield knife in a public place, affray and resist officer in execution of duty.<\/p>\n
The woman was bail refused to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 13 July 2016).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
