Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was bitten by a dog at New Lambton today.<\/p>\n
About 12.30pm (Friday 15 April 2016), an 81-year-old woman was walking her dog along Queen\u2019s Road when she was approached by a second dog known to her.<\/p>\n
The woman attempted to walk away, when the dog bit her and her dog a number of times.<\/p>\n
Witnesses went to the woman\u2019s assistance, and took control of the dog.<\/p>\n
Ambulance Paramedics were called and assisted the injured woman, before she was taken to John Hunter Hospital, where she is expected to undergo surgery. Her dog suffered minor injuries.<\/p>\n
The second dog has been secured and an investigation is now underway.<\/p>\n
Officers attached to Newcastle City Local Area Command are liaising with the owner of the dog and local council in relation to the incident.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
