Two men have been charged after a woman was robbed with a firearm in Newcastle today.<\/p>\n
About 12.30pm (Wednesday 13 April 2016), a 19-year-old woman was at a bus stop on Tudor Street, Hamilton, when she was approached by two males and threatened with a handgun.<\/p>\n
The woman handed over her purse and phone to the offenders, who fled the scene towards Broadmeadow.<\/p>\n
A short time later, police from Newcastle City LAC detained two males nearby. The victim\u2019s phone was allegedly found in possession of one of the men.<\/p>\n
The two men, aged 30 and 26, were arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station. While being conveyed the 30-year-old man allegedly damaged the door of the police vehicle by kicking it.<\/p>\n
Both men were charged with robbery in company. The older man was also charged with malicious damage.<\/p>\n
Both were refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court tomorrow (Thursday 14 April 2016).<\/p>\n
