<\/b>A youth has been charged following investigations into two armed robberies in the New England Local Area Command during the past two weeks.<\/p>\n
About 11.50pm on Sunday 14 February 2016, a 51-year-old man was driving his Taxi when he was allegedly called to Alexander Street to pick-up a 16-year-old youth.<\/p>\n
The youth was driven to Kirkwood Street where it\u2019s alleged he threatened the driver with a sharp object and demanded cash.<\/p>\n
The driver stopped the taxi, allegedly threw his wallet out the window, before the youth grabbed the wallet and ran off.<\/p>\n
The driver contacted police and an investigation was commenced.<\/p>\n
About 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 15 February 2016) detectives from Armidale arrested a 16-year-old male at an Armidale address.<\/p>\n
He was taken to Armidale Police Station where he was interviewed.<\/p>\n
The youth was charged with two counts of robbery while armed.<\/p>\n
The second robbery allegedly involved a delivery driver and occurred in Tysoe Crescent, Armidale, on Tuesday 2 February 2016.<\/p>\n
He was refused bail and will appear in a Children\u2019s Court today (Tuesday 16 February 2016).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
