A report is being prepared for the Coroner after a man was killed and another was injured when they were hit by a train in the Hunter region on Friday night.<\/p>\n
About 10.15pm on Friday (5 February 2016) a 21-year-old man and a 19-year-old man were on the railway tracks about 300 metres east of East Maitland Railway Station when they were struck by a passenger train.<\/p>\n
The 21-year-old man died at the scene. The younger man was taken to Maitland Hospital with bruising and abrasions and is in a stable condition.<\/span><\/p>\n Police from Central Hunter Local Area Command and Police Transport Command attended and conducted inquiries.<\/p>\n The train line was closed until 3.25am whilst investigations took place.<\/p>\n A report is being prepared for the Coroner.<\/p>\n Police are urging anyone with information in relation to these incidents to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https:\/\/nsw.crimestoppers.com.au\/<\/a> Information you provide will be treated in the strictest of confidence.
