A man will face court today after leading police on an 85 kilometre pursuit in the state\u2019s south.<\/p>\n
Shortly before 7pm yesterday (Wednesday 3 February 2016), police from the Traffic and Highway Patrol detected a white Ford Falcon travelling at excessive speed in the north-bound lanes of the Hume Highway.<\/p>\n
Officers attempted to stop the car, which did not have any number-plates, but the driver did not comply.<\/p>\n
Police pursued the vehicle for approximately 85km, during which the Falcon allegedly reached speeds of 165km\/h in the 110km\/h zone.<\/p>\n
On the Little Billabong Creek Bridge (95km north of Albury), the Falcon slowed down before the driver jumped from the still-moving vehicle and ran into a nearby paddock. He was arrested by police a short time later.<\/p>\n
The man, a 27-year-old from Point Cook in Victoria, was taken to Wagga Police Station and charged with:<\/p>\n
– Dangerous Driving Police Pursuit (Skye\u2019s Law);<\/p>\n
– Dangerous driving whilst suspended; and,<\/p>\n
– Not display number plates.<\/p>\n
Bail refused, he is due to appear before Wagga Local Court today (Thursday 4 February 2016).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
