A Robertson pilot is incredibly lucky to have walked away from a fiery plane crash this afternoon.
\nThe single engine Brumby had begun taking off when it crashed and caught fire.
\nPolice said the pilot and sole occupant, a 78-year-old man, was able to leave the plane himself and did not require medical treatment.
\nThe plane was destroyed.
\nA NSW ambulance spokesman said the man did not require an ambulance or help from paramedics.
\nA police spokeswoman said the plane crashed on an airstrip near the edge of the Hume Highway on Munroe Rd.
\nWitness, Ian, was driving along the Hume Highway towards Sydney when he saw the plane erupt into a ‘ball of flames’.
\nHe saw people rush towards the plane and try to pull out those inside.
\n“I saw a burst of flames and looked beside me and the plane was in a ball of flames,” he told said.
\n“The last thing you want to see is a plane crash into a ball of fire on the side of the road.
