<\/b>Two men will face court, after allegedly stealing a handbag yesterday and using cards to fraudulently purchase items.<\/p>\n
About 12.30pm yesterday (Thursday 20 August 2015), a 29-year-old woman had her handbag stolen from a hotel on Darby Street, Cooks Hill.<\/p>\n
She reported the matter to police and an investigation commenced.<\/p>\n
About 3.50pm the same day, following investigations, police attended a home on Nickson Street, Bar Beach, and arrested a 37-year-old man following a short foot pursuit.<\/p>\n
During a search of the man, police allegedly located a credit card belonging to the 29-year-old woman in his possession.<\/p>\n
Police also allegedly located a backpack at the home containing a number of personal items belonging to the 29-year-old woman, and other items allegedly purchased fraudulently with her credit card(s).<\/p>\n
The man was taken to Newcastle Police Station and was charged with stealing and nine counts of fraud.<\/p>\n
He was refused bail and is due to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (Friday 21 August 2015).<\/p>\n
Following his arrest, a 46-year-old Bar Beach man attended Newcastle Police Station about 6pm yesterday.<\/p>\n
He was arrested and charged with stealing and nine fraud offences. He was granted conditional bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 17 September 2015.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
