<\/b>A man has been arrested after allegedly driving a bulldozer through a house at Teralba, Lake Macquarie, this morning.<\/p>\n
About 7.10am (Monday 8 June 2015), officers attached to Lake Macquarie Local Area Command were called to a home on The Weir Road after reports a bulldozer had crushed three parked vehicles at the house.<\/p>\n
Investigators have been told a 48-year-old man allegedly drove a bulldozer over the top of three vehicles parked in front of the house, and another that was parked at the side of the property.<\/p>\n
The man then allegedly drove the vehicle toward a 29-year-old man who\u2019d been sleeping in a detached garage on the property.<\/p>\n
He stopped pursuing the man a short time later and turned the bulldozer toward the house, before continuing over the building until it was allegedly demolished.<\/p>\n
A neighbour ran to the property and assisted a 56-year-old woman and her two daughters, aged 15 and 20, from the home before it was destroyed.<\/p>\n
No one was injured during the incident.<\/p>\n
Local police, with assistance from the Dog Unit, utilised OC spray to facilitate the man\u2019s arrest and stop the bulldozer.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s since been taken to Charlestown Police Station, where he continues to assist police with their inquiries.<\/p>\n
A crime scene has been established at the home and will be examined by forensic specialists.<\/p>\n
The 48-year-old man is known to the family and the bulldozer had allegedly been stolen from a plant on Railway Crescent, Teralba, during a separate incident.<\/p>\n
The investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
He was charged with:<\/p>\n
– Breach AVO;<\/p>\n
– Enter inclosed land premises without lawful excuse;<\/p>\n
– Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner;<\/p>\n
– Destroy or damage property >$ 5,000 <$15,000 (five counts);<\/p>\n
– Destroy or damage property >$15,000;<\/p>\n
– Stalk\/intimidate intend fear physical (four counts);<\/p>\n
– Affray;<\/p>\n
– Custody of knife in public place;<\/p>\n
– Intimidate police officer in execution of duty; and,<\/p>\n
