<\/b>Police have charged two people after they allegedly assaulted and kidnapped a man in Mayfield West.<\/p>\n
About 12.10pm yesterday (Saturday 30 May 2015), a 35-year-old man went to the home of a 27-year-old man and 30-year-old woman in Miller Street. While at the home the older man was verbally and physically assaulted by the pair before allegedly being stabbed by the younger man on a number of occasions.<\/p>\n
It is alleged, the attack continued and the 35-year-old man was threatened at knife point, hit over the head with a replica firearm and tied up.<\/p>\n
He managed to escape and ran to a nearby service station where emergency services were called.<\/p>\n
The man was treated by Ambulance Paramedics at the scene. He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition with significant head and facial injuries. He also suffered a number of stab wounds to his arm.<\/p>\n
Following inquiries, police arrested a 27-year-old man and 30-year-old woman at the home a short time later.<\/p>\n
They were taken to Waratah Police Station where they were charged with wound with intent and special aggravated kidnapping.<\/p>\n
They were refused bail to appear at Newcastle Bail Court today.<\/p>\n
