{"id":2090,"date":"2015-04-25T13:14:26","date_gmt":"2015-04-25T03:14:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.australianbroadcastingmedia.com.au\/publishing\/?p=2090"},"modified":"2015-04-25T13:14:26","modified_gmt":"2015-04-25T03:14:26","slug":"police-appeal-for-information-regarding-suspicious-vehicle-goulburn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.onradio.com.au\/index.php\/2015\/04\/25\/police-appeal-for-information-regarding-suspicious-vehicle-goulburn\/","title":{"rendered":"Police appeal for information regarding suspicious vehicle &#8211; Goulburn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police are appealing for information after a suspicious vehicle was allegedly seen following a child on their push bike in Goulburn this morning.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly before 8.30am (Friday 24 April 2015), a nine-year-old boy was riding his bike to school along Kinghorne Street, when he saw a vehicle driving slowly behind him.<\/p>\n<p>Officers from The Hume Local Area Command have been told the vehicle followed the boy as he continued through a number of streets, until he reached the school grounds, where it drove away toward the next intersection.<\/p>\n<p>The driver did not approach the boy or attempt to speak with him.<\/p>\n<p>The boy reported the incident to his principal, who promptly contacted police.<\/p>\n<p>Police are continuing their inquiries into the matter and would now like to speak with a man who may be able to assist with their investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The man is described as being about 40-50 years of age, medium build, brown\/grey-coloured hair and he was last seen wearing a brown-coloured shirt.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle involved has been described as a large dark-coloured sedan.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any information that could assist police, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the incident has again prompted police to encourage parents to discuss the \u2018Safe People, Safe Places\u2019 messages with their children, including;<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Make sure your parents or another adult you know knows where you are at all times.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Always walk straight home or to the place you are walking to. Walk near busier roads and streets, or use paths where there are lots of other people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Know where safe places are \u2013 a shop, service station, police station, library or school. If you are ever frightened, you should go to one of these places and ask them to call the police.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Learn about safe adults you can look for and talk to if you need help \u2013 police officers, teachers at school, adults you know and trust.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Don\u2019t talk to people you don\u2019t know and never get into a car with someone you don\u2019t know. If a car stops on the side of the road and you don\u2019t know the person inside, do not stop.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; If you are scared and can use a phone, call 000 and tell them you are scared.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; If someone tries to grab you, yell out, \u2018Go away, I don\u2019t know you\u2019.
