Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was struck by a car and assaulted in Tamworth on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n
Just after 4am (Thursday 1 January 2015), officers attached to Oxley Local Area Command were called to Cossa Street following reports of a large group of people fighting.<\/p>\n
Police have been told a 25-year-old man became involved in an argument with another man.<\/p>\n
During the argument, a Ford Falcon approached the group and ran into the man, knocking him to the ground.<\/p>\n
A group of people then assaulted the man, before he ran away.<\/p>\n
Emergency services were contacted and he was treated at the scene, before being taken by Ambulance Paramedics to Tamworth Hospital.<\/p>\n
He has since been released after receiving stitches to his head.<\/p>\n
Officers attached to Oxley Local Area Command are investigating the incident and believe there may have been a number of witnesses who have not yet spoken to police.<\/p>\n
