Police uncover 70g of ‘ice’, 200g of marijuana and gun in car after crash – Tarcutta

A man has been charged after police discovered drugs and a gun in his car after it crashed on the Hume Highway in Tarcutta.

About 8pm on Wednesday, a Toyota Camry sedan was being driven south on the Hume Highway by a 21-year-old man.

The vehicle collided with a guardrail at an intersection about 10km south of Tarcutta. A search of the car revealed 70 grams of the drug “ice”, about 200 grams of cannabis and a shortened .22 rifle.

Man charged with drug and firearm possession – Wagga Wagga

A man has been charged after police allegedly discovered an amount of drugs and a firearm in his vehicle that crashed on the Hume Highway in Tarcutta yesterday.

About 8pm (Wednesday 24 February 2016) a Toyota Camry sedan was being driven south on the Hume Highway by a 21-year-old man.

The vehicle collided with a guardrail at the intersection of Keajura Road about 10km south of Tarcutta.

Police were called and located the vehicle and the alleged driver.

It’s alleged that a search of the vehicle revealed 70gms of the drug known as ‘Ice’, about 200gms of cannabis, and a shortened .22 rifle.

The man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with a number of offences including drug supply and possession, possess unauthorised prohibited firearm and other firearm related offences, and negligent driving.

He was refused bail and will next appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on 20 April 2016.

Man dies and woman injured after motorcycle crash near Holbrook

A report will be prepared for the Coroner following a fatal crash in the state’s Riverina today.

About 2.50pm (Friday 26 February 2016), emergency services responded to reports of a motorcycle crash on the Hume Highway, about 20km north of Holbrook.

The 65-year-old male rider was thrown from the bike. He sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital, however, died on route.

His pillion passenger, a 56-year-old woman, was also thrown from the bike. She sustained multiple fractures and was airlifted to Canberra Hospital.

The Hume Highway was closed to southbound traffic for six hours while police from Albury Local Area Command investigated the incident.
